Basic French Dip Sandwiches - 04/20/21 02:20 AM
Got some excellent rare roast beef the other day, and needed to use up the bakery rolls before they got too dry. What better way than French Dip sandwiches with Colby Jack cheese, fries, and Cole slaw?? You know you got them soggy enough, when the au jus is running down your chin!!!

My favorite sandwich. How did you make the au jus?

For the au jus, I really prefer to make fresh but the Knorrs package mix is really good too. The liquid concentrate seems too watery and salty, so we quit trying to find one of those we like.
We have these neat little Rubbermaid containers that are perfect size for saving beef drippings from prime rib, or bacon grease. Always seem to save a few in the freezer. Mix drippings, some butter, Worcestershire, red wine, and Better Than Bouillion beef base with a couple cups of water and bring to boil. Salt and pepper at end to taste. Simple

It takes a little practice. You have to lean over the bowl just right to get a good of goodness.
