I stopped in the K-Mart in Rosenberg years ago. Store brand was all they had. It tasted like sawdust. They wondered why they went out of business. Duh.

If you don't want to go to a lot of trouble, and you also like steak so much - a wonderful addition is Parmesan butter, on your steak!!! Simply mix your grated Parm with some softened butter, add a little pepper and/or garlic and when you pull your steak off to rest, top with a big dollop of this!!! I've been known to mix in a bit of strong blue cheese also. You need to try it!!

Whole cuts of parmigiano reggiano are where it’s at. 10.99/lb at Costco or 9.99/lb at Jimmy’s Food Store in Dallas. There is no substitute.

And a lot of other places, that is why some tastes or feels like sawdust

The real stuff is much better eating and better for us.

I like to eat a piece of parmesan with a small glass of cold Wild Turkey, and a cheap cigar. Nice & quiet like, outside.

Bake some Parmesan crisps. Make little piles of about 1/3-1/2cup each. A little Italian seasoning. Toss them in the oven until they melt. Let them cool. Stack some pepperoni slices, summer sausage, whatever you like on them.
