Eat the meat. Boil the bones. Save the stock for Blackeyed peas. Would you?

That`s a really good price. We had one of those @ Thanksgiving and it was as good a ham as we have ever eaten. We are not having ham for Christmas but we may get one of those and put in the freezer. Makes great sandwiches. Like I used to say when I ran meat mkt......... They`re not making money, they`re making friends.

I have literally sold thousands of Cooks hams and never thought they were exceptional....... God hams, but not exceptional. I bought a Kroger spiral ham and fixed for Thanksgiving and it was really good. Both hams are cured different for sure. The best deal on a Cooks would be a 1/2 ham(no centers removed) and not a butt or shank portion.

TPACK I have to disagree. I started my tradition about 12 years ago with a Cook's Whole Ham and they have been a winner every time! I keep it simple place in big roaster fat side up on a little rack, pour half of 12 oz DP in pan. seal tightly with foil and cook at 325 for 25 minutes a lb. About 45 minutes before cook time is up I uncover it and slather my plum jelly, brown sugar, coarse mustard glaze on good and thick and finish in oven uncovered for 45 minutes, SLAP YO MAMMA good every time banana

I'll even eat the sliced ham from the deli. I prefer the center cuts which allowed me to fold it over when I make my ham, Swiss, icebox pickles, with honey mustard, on honey wheat slice of bread.

We can bicker all we like but to me ham only comes two ways. Good and better. The worst I ever had was wonderful.

Re: Christmas ham - 12/19/20 06:30 PM

$.77 a lb Cooks ham non spiral eats pretty good smoked on a pit barrel cooker. Never any leftovers with my tribe. Hard to get it sliced quick enough.
