We have an older FoodSaver unit that cost about $100. It works fine for the amount we use it, as most of our leftovers and prepared foods are used well within 3-6 months. A lot just goes in Tupperware containers. For game meat (deer, elk, etc.) it is much faster for me to wrap in Saran-Wrap, then white butcher paper. The kids and grandkids all love venison, so it's like having food termites!! We are always out of meat before the next season anyway, so multi-year storage is not an issue.
My friend in Texas who's a fishing guide processes literally hundreds, if not thousands of bags of filets every year. He swears by his larger FoodSaver 4800. While we were there this past month, we put up about 10-15 bags of fish and shrimp daily.
