Cheap cold weather eats

Last night for us, it was Progresso's Bacon & Corn Chowder soup, along with some cheesy oven baked garlic bread. Simple. Cheap and makes for a happy warm tummy. What are some of y'all's favorites?

Tortilla soup

Mom's Beef Stew

Chunkys chicken and sausage gumbo

Pinto beans and cornbread.

A nice beef stew made with t bones instead of chuck roast.

Broccoli-cheese soup with cornbread.

Made a pot roast and chili last night to eat on all week.

Good stuff.

Wife made a big pot of Chicken and dumplings. Had them again tonight.

That is my favorite to be honest.

A big bowl of Snakewrangler's Chicken Jalapeno Cheese soup sounds good right now....

Wife went to the store for what we needed for it. I’ll be making it as soon as I get home tonight. And some of the Walmart French bread!

Chicken tortilla soup, find one fo the crockpot recipes so when it cooks it permeates the whole house.

Can someone share this recipe.....this does sound good!

Make some gumbo and chili before the cold hits and put in freezer. Heck last night I just ate Wolf brand chili with flour tortillas. Will warm your tummy and fill you up!

I like a beef stew but a good bowl of chili w jalapeños and onions is right up there too

I made a mean pot of Cowboy Beans on Tuesday been eating them everyday for lunch and as a side for dinner, my 18 month old son has been eating them everyday too. Awesome in the cold weather.

1 16oz can of kidney beans
1 16oz can of black beans
2 16oz cans of pork n beans
2 poblano peppers chopped
1 red bell pepper chopped
1 large yellow onion chopped
1 1/2 Tsp minced garlic
1 Cup of ketchup
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of BBQ sauce
2 Tbs of liquid smoke
1 pound of lean ground beef
Half a package of thick cut bacon

Brown the ground beef, drain, and sit to the side. Next cook the bacon to almost done, with a couple minutes left throw in the onion, peppers, and garlic and let it sweat.

Combine all ingredients in a crockpot and cook on low for 4 hours.
