I haven't got a rub but used THIS on some smoked meat recently and it turned out pretty good. They have a low salt and a no salt version.

The last I did I coated it with Mikes, black pepper and garlic powder (sister doesn't eat onions) the crew that ate it liked it.

I've been told to cut down on the sodium too, not quite an order (yet), just a suggestion. That Mikes stuff looks interesting, Thanks!

I was told to cut way down unless I wanted to be on dialysis before long. THat will catch your attention. He sat a low limit of 800mg per day including what occurs naturally in what you eat, Not easy but doable if you cook almost everything at home and cut out bread. Amazing how much sodium is most breads. Standard low sodium diet is 1500mg per day

I have been doing that for about 8 months and d feel better and kidney function numbers have improves and reduced the blood pressure medication.

I do eat out occasionally but have eztremely low sodium meals for the others that day and go places I can get items without much added sodium compared to their normal stuff. No more pizza, cracker barrel, buffets and lots of other things but you learn to deal with it.

Learn to read labels carefully.

Trip to ER for congestive heart failure is driving this diet change. Had 9 liters of fluid drained with help from meds. Just need to stay under 1500 mg per day. Traveling for work for about 35 of the last 40+ years adds up to a lot of eating out. It will be a diet change for sure.
On the positive side, dropped 20 lbs. after 3 days in hospital, and another 5 lbs since then.
Thanks for the info Kmon 1!

Hey 68....welcome to my world of anti salt and CHF. Ditching the salt isn’t as hard as you might think. No tips really other than lotsa pepper and fresh garlic, rosemary etc etc. You’ll find certain things you simply have to have salt with. Mine is eggs.

Yeah, just black pepper and Tabasco aren’t as good as a couple shakes of salt. And that’s all I’d ever put on an avocada bang

I use the Fiesta fajita seasoning (no salt) as my go to seasoning ... I really like their fajita seasoning with mesquite flavoring but it has salt in it. great on pretty much anything

After 2 weeks of this low sodium diet, I have come to the conclusion that there’s no substitute for salt. I’ve given up a lot of things in life, but this feels like the hardest one yet.

Hardest part for me on the greatly reduced sodium intake is bacon and sausage.
