Chicken hearts..... - 05/11/18 03:00 AM

Have loved them as a kid....and still do! Favorite part of the chicken.

Saw three packages at HEB last week and grabbed all three. Spitfire said, "You don't need all three. And I don't want to freeze them. We will buy fresh when we are ready to cook them." She had never eaten them....... wtf

She simply didn't understand. bang

I love them hot out of the pan and even better when they are cold out of the frige the next day.....I can eat them like popcorn... popcorn

Chicken Hearts are awesome fried, they run like $1 per pound. Taste much better than fried chicken for me.

Asian stores carry them, I have never seen them at a American grocery store

Do you have to do anything special to them, or just fry them up?

Just fry them up with a flour and egg batter like you do any fried chicken, or anything else....

Used to fight over them as kids growing up along with the wishbone. Never cared for livers or gizzards. Hadn’t had a chicken heart ln forty plus years. Mom had a way of fixing them, may she rest inpiece!

X2. No one knows how to cut up a chicken for the wishbone anymore.

My mom and I both loved hearts and gizzards....she liked liver, me not so much! We would always trade each week. One week I'd get the heart and she would get the gizzard....the next week we'd switch.....RIP mom....love and miss you!

Nicely done sir. Used to tear them up as a youngster. I love them batter fried and then dumped in thick cream gravy, and then poured over biscuits. Breakfast, lunch,or dinner. No bad time to eat them.

haven't seen chicken hearts in the stores in years! I occasionally will come across a convenience store that has gizzards and livers, of course the hearts are usually tossed into the gizzards for battering. I much prefer the hearts and gizzards over the liver unless the livers are cooked well done and almost crispy all the way thru.

reminds me, we used to keep the hearts and gizzards out of all our dove and mom would fry all those up.
