Tuna salad

Tuna salad - 05/06/18 02:27 PM

My tomatoes are in. Take a peek.

I've already gone through my turkey bacon clubs, and store bought chicken salad sandwiches.

Next comes the tuna salad with a big slice of homegrown tomato. I like to mix solid white with chunk light. I chop up an onion, add sweet pickle relish, and Mayo. Done deal. What do you put in your tuna salad?

A couple of boiled eggs, and I like a little finely chopped celery. Then, on wheat bread with fresh tomato slices, and crisp iceberg lettuce.

It turned out great. I added a generous shake of pepper. This years purple onions are as sweet as apples.

Tuna in the pouch: less liquid to drain off.
Diced red onion: best onion flavor.
Diced celery: nice crunch and fresh aroma
Sweet pickle relish: wonderful sweetness.
Miracle whip: because it's many time better than mayonnaise.
Fresh ground black pepper and salt: because it makes food better.

I can eat it just like that or on toast.

Tuna, eggs, dill pickle relish (sometimes sweet relish if I make it), red onion and Miracle Whip. That's how we make it and we have it a lot. Love it on fresh bread. Wife likes hers toasted.

Grandparents used to make the above with Boiled eggs and dill pickles. They also had a version that included apple chunks in their tuna.
