How Do You Cook Your Burgers?

I cook mine on foil hot and fast. Flip them twice a side and toast the buns with the grease. Throw the cheese on and melt it on top. My old man doesn’t use foil and cooks right over the fire. Mine are better but you can’t argue with a man over 70 because they don’t give a dam. How do y’all do it?

Over the coals with real lump charcoal. I'm 73, you young whippersnapper. So I don't care if you do it wrong.

various ways depending on crowd and time ...

one of my favorite ways to cook a burger is to make a thick patty and put up in my smoker running low (130*) for 30-45 minutes to put a good amount of smoke flavor, then toss directly over hot coals for a few minutes per side to sear in the juices until medium. My favorite, is using either breakfast sausage or Italian sausage same as above with a couple slices of swiss cheese tossed on at time of last flip.

cast iron skillet really hot to char the outside but leave the middle at medium.

if rushed and for a crowd, directly over charcoal/wood fire

I like smoke and the natural smokiness of the grease dripping onto the fire ... my wife, not so much, as she prefers using the gas grill.

1/2 lb patties, seasoned, sometimes over coals - sometimes on smoker, topped with 2 slices of pepperjack. Buttered toasted Texas Toast/Miracle Whip/mustard/onions/jalapenos. Get down!

Oh, and bread & butter pickles.
