Calfrope - 03/11/18 11:13 PM

I gave up. I couldn't eat the whole thing.

Lets cover a couple of topics on this thread. I gave you a sample of my budget. The fat boys have been going on about portions. This will last me a total of three meals. I have another from the same shopping trip.

Fit your budget? When do you stop? How much do you weigh?

We do the same thing.
Aldi’s sells US Choice rib eyes for about $10 a lb. they’re pre cut at about a pound each, thick cut.
I grill one and the wife and I split it.
2/8 oz steaks, medium rare, aged - delicious.
Five bucks per serving.

Eating an 8oz steak is for wimmins.

Re: Calfrope - 03/11/18 11:23 PM

My wife and I usually split a 16oz ribeye. Last weekend she came home with 2 8oz ribeyes. I ate all of mine, and the half she didn’t eat the next day.

Re: Calfrope - 03/11/18 11:30 PM

I cannot eat red meat like I used to. I’d eat a full ribeye, fat and all almost ever night.

Now not the fat and save some tomorrow.

We can cover a lot of ground on this thread.

https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/steak-cooked-wrong-americans-2017-7

There's nothing more American than massive hunks of buttery, juicy, tender-as-hell steak cooked to medium rare perfection.

Turns out that isn't always the case. As the ubiquitous Longhorn Steakhouse chain assessed from a year's worth of steak orders from all its 491 U.S. locations, Americans overwhelming prefer their beef cuts tragically overcooked.

In other terms, 75 percent of Americans prefer their steaks well-done, medium-well or medium. As any self-respecting chef will tell you--like, say, Gordon Ramsay or Anthony Bourdain--the only way to order a steak is medium-rare. Anything else, or what 77 percent of Americans appear to order, is absolute culinary sacrilege.

Look at it the other way, nearly 20 precent don't know what they are talking about when it comes to how to cook a steak.

Yeah I did alot of competitive powerlifting back in the day and everyone of us ate like cows man. I'm not as hardcore as I use to be but once your body gets use to eating like that its hard to stop. Its like an internal alarm telling me I need to eat. lol

Unless you are paying for my meal you have no business telling me how I'm supposed to order my food cooked! Nothing pisses me off worse than to place an order and then some little punk server tells me "Sir, the chef recommends......." It usually pertains to lamb when this happens. I have called the chef out to the table several times to ask if he is paying for the meal, and if so I'll take his recommendation. I've yet to have a chef take me up on the offer.

I just do not understand why it such a BIG deal that some people don't like blood running out of their main course!!!

I think people should eat there food however they like it, but have you ever tried a rare steak etc? I ate well done as a kid "because I didn't like rare" just like I didn't like onions, chineese food, bell pepper, tomatoes etc... One fatefull evening my mom tricked me into trying some lemmon chicken chineese food and it changed me eating life, in short amount of time I scratched pretty much everything off the food I don't like list just by trying it. I sure wish I could get my wife to embrace that.

No. I took it with my Ipad. It looks fuzzy because I had added the salsa and cilantro causing steam.

Here's what it looked like before the steam.
