Wurstfest

Wurstfest - 11/07/22 04:41 PM

The annual Celebration of Sausage is taking place in New Braunfels this week. Opening weekend was better than "solid". Weather has been good and the patrons have been happy. Everyone is free Monday through Thursday 5-10 each day. Kids 12 and under are free all the time. Good food, good drink, good entertainment and the quite possibly neatest festival grounds in the Great State of Texas. Don't bring your pocket knife as you won't get it through the metal detectors - our grounds are very safe.

Hud is pretty much there all the time. Have to do some TX Bucket List thingie tonight, but I ain't gonna be with them all night. Hudbone (aka (Hud) is pretty easy to spot and a few people out there will know who he is. He always has drink tickets. If you get out there, catch him. He is nothing, but a host.

That looks like a great time, it sucks living up in no mans land at times and this is one of those. For those that go drink one for me,,

Depending on what kind of metal detector, pocket knives are easy to get past them. Don't have it in your pocket.

Looks like fun !!!!

Last night's Veterans Day tributes were outstanding. I may have tried to teer up a little bit when Der Schlaberger played Lee Greenwood's song. Lots of people having a good time and being respectful.

Pretty much an unbelievable ten day run. Weather was cooperative (sterling on last weekend), problems were few and people seemed to have some really "big" times. The true joy and good times obtained at our lil' place on the bend of the Comal River was indeed flattering.

Almost forgot about my ham hocks & kraut, but got that in the last Sunday. Yesterday, people came in free after 3 and that sure was met well. People stayed and played well into the night. I got outta there right after our closing ceremeonies and Opa party. The fellas from East Solms outdid themselves. This 70 pounder came out supremely - schmeck gute!

I got to be at his lil' event a lot. Over ten days, the Festival is open to the public for what I believe to be 72 hours. No telling how many hours I was there. Parts of it were a whirlwind. Last night at 9:30 was the last time I exited the gates and one of my homies took this to capture the moment when the weight was lifted. Looking so forward to next year when another 200,000 plus will likely come join us, be safe and have a good time. Ist das leben schon!
