CFS - Golinda, Tx

The wife has a Facebook friend that is a CFS lover. She and her husband travel all over Texas sampling the food. Recently she raved over the CFS in a place in Hillsboro and said it was almost as good as the one in Golinda. Well, Golinda isn’t far from us (20 miles south of Waco), so off we went to see if the CFS was as good as the woman said it was. She said it was the best she’d had. Well, it was the best I’ve had. That was about a perfect CFS. The meat was thick and tender, the flavor was dead on, and the breading stayed with the meat. Cream gravy was on the side.

The Potato salad was terrific. The fried sliced jalapeños, which I love, were perfect.

What's the name of the Hillsboro place?

The R&K Cafe, in Hillsboro. The wife and I will give it a try next time we go through Hillsboro.

The Golinda Store's catfish is spot on on Friday nights, as well, but for catfish I prefer Te'jun. And it's fun to eat a pound of peel and eat shrimp then feed the shells to the catfish off the deck. Even more fun if there are kids around. They love it.

I googled them and went to their FaceBook page, the food there looks fantastic and very reasonably priced!

My son lives about 2 miles from there. Like slow drifter said the catfish is spot on.
