Cattleman's Cafe in Blue Ridge

Cattleman's Cafe in Blue Ridge - 03/18/19 05:31 PM

The wife and I are going there for dinner this week based on a friends recommendation. They said they have the best Chicken Fried Steak ever and is suppose to be very large.

Anyone eaten there, if so how is it?

Have no idea if it's the same cafe as was on the square 30 years ago but if so it was just ok.

A lot can change over time so I'll wait your more current review.

It’s not bad but I didn’t think it was the best ever. Tiny little hole in the wall on the square

We left my house around 4:55 and traffic was a booger all up and down 75 and even up in Melissa at the 121/5 exit but it was worth the trip up
I met people from Kansas, Alabama, Greenville, Leonard, Westminister and some locals, mainly a bunch of down home folks eating some great grub. Also met Mr. Crappie neat guy with some good shallow water jig fishing tips.

My CFS was big and very good, wife and Jay had smothered chopped steak, Jeannine had fried shrimp. For desert I had the chocolate cream pie, Deb had chocolate cobbler with vanilla ice cream, Jay and Jeannine had some sort of pie and yes the desert was way good too. I am surprised after eating all of that I did not go comatose driving home grin

The jalapeno hush puppies were good, I stole one.

The CFS was big and very good, the Red Beans were excellent, smashed taters good, corn meh.

Wife and Jay both polished off their meal with a grin.

Yum

Yes it is a tiny hole in the wall, no it was not my best ever either but it was all very good and very enjoyable.
When you live in the middle of the madness (Dallas) it is so nice to go out into the country to a hole in the wall with just a bunch of good ol folks and enjoy some very good home cooking.

And imagine going to a restaurant where there is no tv blaring, people are actually having meaningful or fun conversations with each other instead of playing on their phone up

Will the wife and I just jump up and head out there for lunch or dinner probably not only because it is to far of a drive, now if there are some friends that want to meet us out there, will be happy to go again!
