Haven't been in awhile. I always like Popeyes spicy. You can get a drumstick and a thigh for a dollar on the Tuesdays special. I just saw that they are opening a KFC at the new Walmart center close to my house. May give it another try. Thoughts?

We lived in Cleveland area for three years building paging systems. I truly hated living there, but there is one thing I miss. Every hole in the wall made great fried chicken.

But it ain’t worth going back for.

Re: Best fried chicken - 08/17/18 10:31 PM

KFC Original is good, but over half the KFC's I've had at it's way to greasy, like soaked in grease. Maybe they don't cook it hot enough or put too much chicken in the batch, something is wrong.

Every one I’ve been to here on the north side has gone up to $1.39-$1.49. Church’s does $1.39 on Tuesday also but I could care less for church’s.

I prefer Bush’s Fried chicken when I hit a drive through. Babes is a good go in and eat joint. I had heard about Allen’s in Sweetwater for years, and when I finally ate there I did not like it at all. I went back once to try it again to be sure, and it was worse.

Church’s spicy, Chicken Express, Popeye’s and Babe’s. I can’t stand going to KFC. I’ve been recently where they’ve run out of chicken and ask you to wait 10 plus minutes. I’m thinking how does a chicken restaurant run out of chicken.?

If your Walmart has a deli try their fried chicken, sometimes it is overcooked but when they get it right their breading is really good.

One of my regular trips to my quail lease always included a mid day stop at Walmart. My friend and I always bought their chicken tenders and hit the road. We had chicken tender sandwiches on the road and chicken tenders for our first night at the lease.

Chicken E is good bird just wish it was close to Popeye's so it was easier to get some red beans and rice! I really shouldn't look at the On the road section when about is all I get is 1000 calories a day anymore...thanks to sweet tea. Eating out and dinning has become mundane or hassle.

If you happen to be traveling through Groesbeck around lunch time, stop at the Brookshires Market for fried chicken. They really have great fried chicken. We have a Bush’s, but their fried chicken just is no where near as good.

Other than that, Popeye’s is my franchise favorite. The spicy stuff.

Heck, chicken is chicken. It’s the crust that matters. That’s where Brookshire’s in Groesbeck really shines. And so does Popeye’s.

Yep. I grew up on KFC original. They got our order wrong once and we got crispy. It changed my life.

I know of 3 Chicken Express stores that have closed in our area.
I get somewhat depressed thinking about it. Luckily the one
closest to the house is still open for now.

And anybody that doesn't recognize the greatness of supermarket deli
fried chicken needs to get out more. Market Street chicken is wonderful.
