Pappadeux's

Pappadeux's - 04/10/18 01:26 PM

Wife and I hit the one on 114 in Grapevine on Sunday, was delicious but a little pricey. I had the Crawfish platter (fried Crawfish & Crawfish etoufe(sp)) and my wife had the Pasta Mardi Gras. Spinach dip appetizer & 2 drinks = $100 plus tip.

It was worth it though, we don't eat out very often. Trying to make it a once a week thing to at least go out to eat at a decent restaurant.

It has always been one of favorite. Haven't been to one in years. Location, location, location.

Re: Pappadeux's - 04/10/18 02:27 PM

I like it and for the amount of food you get it is still a decent value, since they have raised their prices so much over the last 5 years it makes a lot of their competitors more attractive.

I like the Pappa’s restaraunts, but don’t go to them too often because of their prices. However, if their parking lots stay full they will continue to slowly raise their prices.

always great, but expensive.

Re: Pappadeux's - 04/10/18 07:04 PM

I ate there quite a bit 10-15 years ago. Never had a bad meal, service is always good. Prices have come up quite a bit although I agree it is still a decent value. Don't go there a whole lot anymore.

One day a friend told me to try the lobster bisque. I was very surprised at how good it was. If you choose the bowl, it is almost 2 meals worth!

Overall for the quality of food and the serving size it probably one of my favorite place to go to eat.

Love Pappadeaux's!

Re: Pappadeux's - 04/11/18 01:36 PM

They use a lot of cream and dishes are usually very salty.
You have to know what to order there.
Their grilled oysters, blue point oyster or lobster salad are really good and all i get there.
Big fish in grapevine is better and way cheaper.
I love papadeaux at the airport before take off and away from all the crowds and the beeb beeb beeb carts

When i run out of time, i order a lobster salad for on the plane.
The looks of my neighbor on the plane nibbling on cashew nuts.

Re: Pappadeux's - 04/12/18 03:57 PM

Love it. It is pricey but we don't go there often. Kind of a treat. However like mentioned above there seem to be a run of new trendy places that are opening up that serve similar food at a better price. I will say Pappadeaux is always consistent and the new ones struggle to stay on top.

I'd rather watch someone eat that than some people who think everyone wants to smell cold fast food.

The crawfish bisque is amazing. A bowl is a full meal by itself

Mississippi Catfish oppeloussa (sp?)......best dish on the menu.

I prefer Trulucks. Papadeauxs isn’t terrible, but it’s over priced for you get, at least in my opinion. And they can’t make an Old Fashioned to save their life

I love the food but it is expensive. My Wife and I go on special occasions.

Stuffed shrimp and blackened catfish with red beans and rice for me on Saturday

Their salmon alexander is great! Sometimes it's not on the menu but you can ask for it. The only thing I have against the Grapevine store is that it's so noisy. It's hard to carry on a conversation.

Love them. Snapper Poncitrain is my favorite. It's easy to split some dishes.

Wife and I love the place. I hear Waco will have one in the near future. That will be good. It’s almost impossible to get good seafood in central Texas in the Waco area.

Those stuffed shrimp sure looked great. Waaaay better than what Dead Lobster serves.

Love me some Pappadeux's food

Lobster bisque there is strong, so is the crawfish bisque, they also make a hell of a dinner salad, that's right I said that!

Re: Pappadeux's - 12/08/18 04:30 AM

I like ordering off the appetizer menu. A dozen Blue Points, a bowl of gumbo, and boudin. If you don't like oysters, the peel and eat shrimp will work. Not expensive (well, relatively) and very good.

I like a plate of fried crawdad tails!

Can't beat the seafood platter or the Pappadeaux platter if you are a little extra hungrier grin

I've always liked their food but felt most of the menu was overpriced.

Re: Pappadeux's - 12/12/18 01:29 AM

I always get the stuffed shrimp and a salad with blue cheese dressing. Just FYI we went to Pappasitos last Friday for lunch and it was without a doubt the worst Mexican food I ever ate. I'll never go back.

Re: Pappadeux's - 12/12/18 01:40 AM

'Food's good, but pricey. Training of the wait staff stinks; super slow, for the level of what you're paying. Another example of letting laxidasicle, teenage "I have other, more important things to do" service become the norm.

I was on a lease just in south Texas with a manager of one of their locations. He brought some great crab claws.

Re: Pappadeux's - 12/12/18 06:57 PM

We normally go to the one on FM1960 in Houston for birthdays. Two weeks ago, we went there for my birthday. I ordered the dinner salad and seafood platter. Salad was horrible and the platter did have shrimp, which was good, and chicken strips!!!. The waitress said they were having trouble training staff! They corrected the chicken strips mistake but not the salad. Wife and I discussed how Babin's is much better for seafood.

Yup. My wife and I have learned that when we go there we order an appetizer and a main course meal and split both. The main course meals are pretty big and like you said if you have an appetizer both of you I will be taking food home. You don't have to twist my arm to go there. It's probably one of my favorite Seafood joints

Re: Pappadeux's - 01/16/19 10:36 PM

One of my favorite seafood places too.

My family went to Oceanaire on Christmas Eve - we regretted the decision and wished we had gone to Pappadeux instead. Not as fancy inside, but the food is always delicious.
