Santa's Wonderland

Santa's Wonderland - 10/23/17 01:56 PM

Has anyone on the THF forum taken their little ones to that Santa's Wonderland over there by College Station before, and if so, how was it? We think we might make a trip over there sometime after Thanksgiving to let the girls have fun. Just wondering if they'll love it and if its enjoyable...(not a wasted 4 hour trip for the little ones)

I've always heard good things about it from people I know who have taken their kids there. Looks like I will be talked into going this year now that the child is old enough.

we went last year with a 1.5+/- year old grandson ... he really liked the carriage ride thru the lights ... it was crowded!!! and best to get there early to find parking or ride the shuttle bus ... it's kinda pricey, can be long lines ... get in line for the lights (carriage ride) a little before it gets dark or those get realllllllly long

Figured it would be packed. On their site they say there is offsite parking, or you can buy parking passes to park at the place. Wonder if it is better off to buy parking pass.

Me and my mom, dad, and my brother went 3 years ago. Lights were real good, we just drove through though.

we parked slightly past there and rode a shuttle, wasn't bad at all. Their shuttles are pretty quick and there are a bunch of them running non-stop.

no driving thru the lights other than on their carriages...

If you can go before Thanksgiving you will be doing yourself a favor. Go early!! The line to get into the lot can reach back pretty far. Like PMK wrote, there is no driving through anymore. The carriage rides (just trailers with some hay) really are not bad. They seem to add more each year. It can get pretty crowded inside. The food really isn't too bad and the cost isn't outrageous. They have added a covered area for eating. Around the fire there is usually a group of old guys playing and singing. They do a pretty good job at it. The cost to get in is kind of steep too. There are shops inside too. Can be a fun time for the kids.

I found out I am going December 2, somewhat interested as I have watched that place grow over the years. I will be making me a large roadie for the short 45 minute drive up there.

Not sure how long it has been since you have been down 6, but you are going to have to go past it to get on the west feeder road. I have driven that road since 78 and I don't know if there is a sign for it on the northbound side. I just go there. Have fun and have a safe drive.

I live in CS and Drive past it everyday. I refuse to go in now, but my wife and son went on Sunday. She said the lines were unbelievably long, up to an hour wait for food and drinks. You can not drive through the lights with your personal vehicle anymore, only hay rides or carriage rides. But with all that they still had a great time. I think your kids will enjoy it as well, it just is not my cup of tea, so I don't go.

I would defiantly try to go during the week and not on the weekend, and closer to Christmas the busier they get.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck.

We went yesterday and that place is a cash cow, you have to pay for everything except to see santa and the hay ride. I was listening to a guy talk to another person how they drove from far enough away to warrant getting a hotel room for the night.

We decided to not haul up there this December. We have some busy weekends coming up, then before we know it the holidays will be here. We didn't tell the girls about Santa's Wonderland. It would be something to surprise them so no harm will be done on not going. Thanks guys.
