Fleas - 06/28/21 10:07 PM

struggling to find something that works this year. Read where the fleas have become resistant to some of the flea control meds. Anybody got any good home brew methods? I remember as a kid putting sevin dust on cattle, don't recall if we ever used on dogs.

orange dish soap, lather them up, rinse them off... you have to it several times a week.... then we started using Bravecto.... no fleas in just over 1 month,

I use Bravecto. There is like a 40 lb weight range on the label, so it's not prescribed to an exact dosage. Therefore I usually half the dose instead of giving the full chew. When my Vizsla Blaze was alive, I would split a single dose between my two dogs. Which of course cut my cost in half as well. I have not seen a flea on my dogs or at my home in years and my dogs have had no side effects from it. But I am aware of others online posting reports of having problems, but again, no problems here. Blaze lived 16 years.

Bravecto

I can get by with one dose a year, give late spring and it last until the first freeze..

A good friend their water well has enough sulphur in it that they never have a problem with ticks or fleas on their dogs. Also note the they drink the well water and do not get chiggers or ticks.

I haven't used it on my dog but Seresto flee collar worked great for him when we were using it.

Spray the yard with bug killer. https://www.domyown.com/demand-cs-p-46.html?rrec=true

Dose with 35 mls of Ivermectin monthly.

If I ever see a flea (rare) or the dogs start scratching I dip in Happy Jack Kennel Dip.

I also found this and have been using it lately with all this rain. https://www.wondercide.com/products...JrDodMtEqRlD4BdDXNUA4Yaf7poaAlRfEALw_wcB

35mls of Ivermectin is going to kill a dog.. the oral dose is 0.1 ml per 10 pounds of body weight.

Some years back my Vet advised me to use Simparica for fleas and ticks. It was great advice because I went from fighting them constantly to never seeing a flea.
It's not cheap but it's better than having fleas and ticks to deal with.
