Chew Proof Leash to Seat Belt Buckle

Chew Proof Leash to Seat Belt Buckle - 12/01/20 04:09 AM

When I came out of the restaurant, my new hound dog was gone.
Half of an inexpensive leash to seat belt buckle was in the passenger seat of my naked jeep.
She came back when I called her but I set out to make or find a chew proof leash.

Tuff Leash is a Texas company outside San Antonio in the town of Helotes that makes chew proof leashes and collars.
They also make a leash to seat belt buckle like I wanted. Each one is made to order. I like mine.
This should keep a dog in a UTV, naked jeep or in a pickup with the windows all the way down on a hot day.

I just don't leave mine in a vehicle when it's hot.
Or if I'm driving the diesel, I leave it running, A.C. on and doors locked.
I really prefer my dogs to ride in a crate. If your ever in a accident, they are safer that way.
Last month we were headed out to the field. Running around 60mph, pulling a trailer, with a UTV on it. Three dogs crated inside with us. A drunk driver turned right in front of us. I'm still not sure where my husband came up with his NASCAR skills. But he locked up the brakes, and drifted to the left just missing the guy. Released them, locked them again to drift back to the right, just in time to miss the oncoming traffic. If the Anti lock braking system hadn't failed, or if the trailer jackknifed, it would have been a totally different story.
Traveling with dogs in crates, is just safer for everyone.

I make my own chew proof leads with a piece of chain and clips on each end. Its handy for tying a dog out in the shade. Most field triflers use the.

That is why I stay away from leather and thin nylon leashes. Looks nice, but sure is expensive and the diameter looks small.
I made my own. Ebay for the seat belt clips from china for a couple bucks. They are handy for tying down an ice chest or dog crate on the back seat too. Mine are a couple years old and still holding up as new.

Then I always keep a small carabiner on my leashes if they don't already have a brass clip built in on the loop end. Makes a leash not only handy for clipping to the seat belt clip, but a bumper, fence, tree, and I also use a short leash clipped to a belt loop hanger.
IMHO, there are dozens of as strong designs or tougher ones listed on gun dog supply that are a half to third of what they want for that chew proof one.
https://www.gundogsupply.com/leads---leashes.html?megamenu Just add one of the brass clips or an inexpensive carabiner.
Mostly stay away from leather and single ply nylon leashes. If really worried about it get a cable lead. I used a single cable lead for up to four hounds on one leash during my coon hunting years.

I do the same. Really handy on the road, you can snap the dog onto just about any taunt fence. Avoid standard carabiners because the dog movement can press the chain against the latch and open them -- You want to use slide-bolt snaps. If you must use a carabiner use the more expensive kind with the screw down lock.

They use them as tie out chains in the shade in NSTRA.

Thanks for the tip. Beer bottle openers are on the way.

A leash and cable leads for three dogs is the same price as one Tuff Leash.

Mine are crated in the back seat. Safer that way.
