Free to "good" home

Free to "good" home - 09/18/17 01:10 PM

Not exactly sure where to put this. Last weekend someone abandoned a pup at our deer lease. I found it outside at 12:30 am curled up beside my boots outside my camp trailer. There are no other homes in the area. At daybreak she was still there. She has a real sweet nature but "cowers" very easily when walked towards. Never has barked and shows no aggressiveness at all. Last night I was at the lease I picked her up and put her in my trailer. She never moved all night long so she more than likely has never been inside a house before. I brought her home with me and gave her a bath. She had no issues riding in my truck on the floor board. She had a couple of ticks on her but other than that I could not find any sores. She interacted with my Cocker very well. Poor girl is half starved and really needs attention, loves people but is very reserved. I don't know her breed, probably hinez 57 but has stripped markings on her body. She appears to be less than a year old by her body size and her teeth. She has small feet and probably grow to be around 30 pounds guessing. I am in the process of building a house, living in a rental unit, and moving so it is not the best time to have another boarder but if no one can provide her a "good" home I will keep her in a heart beat. By her sweet personality would be great with small kids.

ttt, just fyi, I have her coming into the house at night time by her self without carrying her in. She has not had an accident in the house since I brought her home. Seems to be coming around with her trust issues. Little more energy now and doesn't cower constantly like she used to. Actually coming to me now wanting me to scratch her belly.

She is beautiful! Thank you for taking her in. I have a dog that was found dumped on the side of the road in the middle of a swamp. She's the sweetest dog ever. They really do know they've been rescued and I swear they are grateful. ☺️
Please be careful with offering her as free. Some people with ill intentions seek free dogs to sell to research labs or use as "bait dogs" for fighting rings. Sounds like you'll be thorough in anyone interested, but just wanted to mention it. Good luck!

Trust me, I am pretty protective and will only let her go to a good home. I have one couple coming by Tuesday evening with their dog to see if everyone is compatible.

Update: Had a date with the vet today. Overall she is in good shape, just needs a little more fat on her. Got her shots, checked for heart worms, she is negative. Was told that she is around 1 year old. Also, that is as big as she is going to get.

She will surely miss you. It warms my old grizzled heart to see her in such good hands. Rescues are great companions and return so much loyalty. Great news on the negative heart worms.

I think she has found her perfect best buddy! You have already done more for her than a lot of people do for their pets. Major kudos to you! Let us know what you have named her. I think you both are lucky!

Gave the vet "Suzy" for their records. Wife said she looks like a Suzy.

Once you named her you might as well keep her.
