My wife and I are looking into picking up a boykin spaniel. Does anyone have any experience with them in the field? Any breeders in Texas?

Yes,,,, good ones are few and far between. I've trained several and really only had 1 good one. They are NOT very tractable and are quick to show aggression with pressure work.

I considered Boykins but chose to go with field bred cockers. Bought 2. Smartest easiest to train dogs I have ever been around. Mind you they are 4 months old but already sitting and staying and retrieving in yard work.

They are great dogs. Good in the home as well as hunting. I have a Brandywine dog and getting another on in a couple of weeks.Go to Boykin Spaniel Society web page they have allot of good information. Expect to have to wait on a litter.
