E collar - 07/31/14 12:11 AM

My tritronics E-collar has finally bit the dust and after talking with tritronics/garmin to get it fixed is pretty much close to buying new. Anyone have suggestions? I really dont want to spend 4 or 500 dollars. Thanks!

Pony up for it. You get exactly what you pay for. You can't hide junk when it comes to e-collars.You will thank yourself later.

Oh man, no doubt with the vibrate. I rarely have to shock any of my dogs anymore for anything, the vibrate is a no brainer.

Yeah, I'm a little perturbed with Garmin / Tritronics myself.
My Tritronics transmitter works but it's really getting beat up, it gets a lot of use.
Plus I've added collar beepers for the tall stuff.
So I wanted to switch my Tritronics collars and beepers to a new Garmin Delta Upland transmitter.

Nope. No can do.
Called Garmin and they said their new Garmin transmitters aren't compatible with Tritronics G3 collars.
Seems to me they could have made it so but in the interest of selling a completely new system vs. a replacement transmitter, corporate decided otherwise.

not too cool.

The new Garmin 550 replaces the TT G3, I've got one. It comes with a beeper, light and is expandable for other items. Costs 100 less than the G3 as well.

I'm not buying any of the new Garmin collars that have a the built in bark collar.
I know that Garmin has had a problem with picking up other remote control radio signals when in bark mode, and shocking the dog at the wrong time.

I love my Sportdog 1850, but it seems to work for about 1.5 years before it dies. I bought one when I got Izzy in 2007. It lasted about a year or so. I then got the sportdog 1850. About 1.5 years a collar died. They replaced it. I then had a beeper die. They replaced it. I bought another system when I got a second dog and I run them both off the same transmitter. The transmitter began to wear out at about 2012, so I started to use the new transmitter. It lasted one year and broke so I had to go back to the worn out transmitter. I also had all the batteries die at about 18-24 months each. They offer an upgrade to a new system if you are within two years of the purchase date. After that you are screwed.

I am limping along with a worn out transmitter and a transmitter to a different model that I was given, but I can't get all the features out of this.

I need to buy a new one, but I hate to spend that kind of money for what I want (1 mile, beeper, zapper, remote beeper on and off, vibrate or buzz, etc)for two dogs.

My advice is to look at the warranty and look at the reviews.

After doing some research ive read the same thing about the Sport dogs. My dad has a DT i believe and he likes it. has had it 10 years after a battery replacement.
