Lab Training - 07/18/14 12:57 AM

About to get a 6 or 7 week old lab next week. Any suggestions on books or videos for training for bird hunting? It will be too young for this year, but will be going with me next year.

I've used Water Dog on two labs and both hunted well.

I agree. I also recommend getting your hands on Bill Hillman's material for when your dog is young.

Fredy King on youtube has step by step videos on training dogs. He is a real nice guy. On facebook if you have a question send him a PM he has always gotten back to me with a answer that day

Water dog is a good reference but it is very outdated. There are much more efficient ways to train a retriever.

Evan graham and hillman are both good. Freddy king is also good on YouTube.

Good luck.

If it helps I did a fair amount of research on which program to follow for my dog and I went with Evan Graham's. it has worked smoothly so far.
