105+- for sale Pushmataha county OK - 04/05/22 02:31 AM

Haven't listed with a realtor, though I'd see if anyone on here like a shot at it first. Property is located in Push county OK, its heavily treed and has lots of elevation change. Its a little over 8 miles down a gravel road so its remote. Random pics to show the genetics on the property, I'm sure everyone has seen a turkey and hog so I'll skip those.

Good area, I have seen these properties for sale. Make sure you have everything you need to survive a few days because the drive to store! Well let's just say I run side by side to local shop in town that has only basics and it's 45 min stroll down mountain to bottom

100%. The Moyers store is closest and as you say they have the basics. They have the standard gas station fair (beer and food) but its also part hardware store, bait shop, deli and feed store with a laundry mat connected. Last year Oklahoma changed to "real beer", not that 3.2 stuff so that's a bonus. Antlers is about 15 miles farther but they have just about everything a rural town has, lumber, liquor, hospital, restaurants, movie theater, feed store and even a power sports shop with sales service and parts. For me being remote is a big plus, getting away from the city is the point but its not for everyone. You learn real quick to plan ahead, that's for sure. Be safe and have a good one.

I am in the market for a good hunting property where we can implement some game management practices. Sounds like a good piece of hunting property! What can you tell me about the neighboring properties? Just wanting to know if the neighbors are into herd management! I would love to learn more about the property!

I’ll try to address some of the question I’m getting here, if you’d like to know anything else PM me with your contact details and I’ll give you a call.

I’ve had several people ask about the HOA, it’s not an HOA it’s a optional landowners association. I apologize for not being more clear. My cabin is a little over 8 miles down a grave road but that road goes on for several more miles. Its not county maintained so the local landowners started an association to maintain the road and have a volunteer fire department. There is also a little security shack at the end of the county road where someone normally sits, the intent is to keep non land owners from roaming around where they don’t belong.

If you should choose to join your dues (I believe its $150 a year) are supposed to get 2 hours of backhoe service for a culvert, septic or whatever. I never joined and didn’t need a culvert or septic so I cant say for sure. The landowners association has absolutely no authority over you or your land, only the laws of the state of Oklahoma are applicable.

The gravel road is in good shape, partly because I let the association remove shale from my property. I see it as win win, the road stays in good shape and I get a brand new spring fed pond. You don’t need 4X4 to get to my cabin, I would recommend a truck or SUV that sits off the ground but seeing how this is a hunting forum I wouldn’t expect too many Honda Accords rolling up to deer camp. My property has no easements or ride of ways.

Its rough country up there, lots of rocks (its called Oklahoma flag stone for a reason) and hills. My property has several hundred feet of elevation change, it’s not straight up and down but in some places it is steep. It’s a small tract by most hunting standards but it hunts like a much larger place. The creek that cuts the place in half is not a little trickle, it’s a big wide proper waterway. The creek is a natural travel route and so are the shelves on the hillside so a person hunting at the creek is not hunting the same deer as those up the hill. Same goes for the property on the far side of the creek. I have 3 feeding stations set up and plan to set up another around the new pond. I wouldn’t necessarily hunt all 4 at the same time but I like options and to rest my feeders.

I didn’t take the pictures of the cabin to list the property so please forgive the mess. It was at the end of season and my stuff was spread all over the place. The water is higher than normal in the creek pic but crossable in a truck.

Re: 105+- for sale Pushmataha county OK - 04/08/22 11:55 PM

I've never had pictures of any or found evidence in any of my stands. I did have a game camera stolen several years ago, turns out it was some kids off a neighbors place. A civil conversation with the grandparents and I haven't had any more issues. In my experience poachers are lazy don't get tend to get far off a road and there are much easier places to poach than mine. I'm sure it happens but it's dang sure not as bad as some places I've hunted in East Texas. I do make sure I have plenty of posted signs around so there are no excuses.

The next door neighbor has hunted up there for 40+ years and has only ever seen a game warden once and never seen a sheriff deputy so there is a distinct lack of law enforcement presence. Personally I think it makes people up there more courteous cuz they know folks handle their own business. I make it a point to stop and talk to people all year long and I've never had a cross word with anyone. I wanted to mention it in case that was a turn off for someone. It suits me just fine and I've made some life long friends in the mountains. Because it's so remote everyone is quick to lend a hand because they know they may need it someday.

Do you have any pics of previous animals taken off the property?

In 12 or so years up there I've never taken one off the place. The only thing I've killed are hogs, no doe, bucks or turkey. I've killed lots of whitetail over the years so for me to sling an arrow at it takes something very extraordinary. I travel internationally for work and have a young family so my time in the stand is limited. I guess I'm just one of these guys that enjoys the experience of hunting and don't feel the least bit down if I don't fill the cooler. Having said that, if I would have seen the tall one in the first group of pictures I wouldn't have hesitated for an instant 😁 My neighbor was fortunate enough to put a nice shot on him, he scored a little over 160. To my knowledge that's the only buck taken off the hill.

Not a bad deal. If you drug that place a little bit South into Texas, the price would double.
