Learning about leasing land near San Saba? - 01/03/12 06:24 PM

I have never leased hunting land and wanting to find out what I can expect to pay for around 455 acres as far as yearly or just a weekend hunt. Is it by rifle or person? I really do not know anything about the logistics of leasing land from someone. So if someone could point me in the right direction as far as the basics that would be very helpfull.

Rough average is going to be around $10-$15 per acre from what I have seen. Of course that will depend on what is there. Water, electric, bunkhouse, coldstorage, and so on.

Thanks Bowslayer, that gives me a reference point. I am assumeing that is per person and the total amount would cover a year lease?

No, $10-$15 per acre total cost. Landowner and lessee can negotiate how many hunters total can be on the lease and how many deer said hunters can kill.

So if you have your eyes on a 455 acre piece of property, and you want to put 2 guns on it, you might offer the landowner $2250 per person ($4500 total).

kvnlttl, I sent you a Pm. Since you are a new member of the forum I thought maybe you might not know how to utilize the PM system.
