Two options are available as of now; unit wide public land or unit wide with private land and thousands of acres of land locked public

53 in in Central Northern NM and 34/36 are both Central Southern NM

why one so much more expensive than other?

My thoughts exactly. I don’t understand why some are more expensive than others unless they are more populated with elk.

Did you miss the private land part?

Did you miss that 53-private land is $4995 and the other two are $9995? I'm assuming that's the question.

Not all units produce the same quality of animal, private or public.

It's because he's a tag broker. They jack up the price. That's how he makes money. They aren't worth 9k!!

36 has a ton of elk and a great bull to cow ratio. Very high success rates on 275-300” bulls .34 is similar. Both units are less the 2% draw odds.

I hunted 36 in sept ‘19 for deer. Just messing around I called in 5 bulls. Reason why draw odds are so low

How are these different?

The more expensive one lets you go behind the locked gates onto the private. The Unit wide doesn't.

My question about the difference in price was meant to differentiate why the one was $9,995 versus the others at $3-4K.

Supply and Demand. Units 34/36 are considered a quality area for antler production. Way more big bulls. Both units border the Mescalero Reservation. Unit 53 is more of a Southern Colorado style hunt. Large numbers, not as many big bulls.

Quality and quantity. 34/36 are premium units that are also less physical then the other options
