Coastal Waterfowl hunting and fishing trips. Ruffling Feathers Guide Service - 11/15/17 03:55 AM

The last couple of weeks has been a great start to our Coastal duck season. Even though the opener had us in a full moon with little to no wind we had some good shoots. This past Thursday when the cold front blew in had us staring at new birds by the thousands showing up filling our backwater marshes full of ducks. Our bags our consisting of pintails, teal, redheads, shovelers and a few bluebills. And our fishing is at its best right now for shallow water marsh redfishing.

I have the following dates open for November

Nov

19,21,22,24,26

At 3:30 AM Sunday morning capt. Brandon Currie and myself woke up staring at whitecaps in the inter coastal and 35mph winds. We make a schedule change and decided it was best to push our hunt back to the evening and the following morning considering we had a few first timers in our group.

The winds let up and after a few minor adjustments we had them boys killing ducks before shooting light let out.

Monday morning was a different story weather wise. Winds had calmed down a lot and we had a strong game plan going into a small backwater pond that had been holding a few birds. We ended the morning with redheads, Pintails, teal, gadwalls, buffleheads amd bluebills.

We have birds arriving daily and it’s already shaping up to be a outstanding season.

We ended our split in a very coastal fashion this weekend. From hosting first timers duck hunting to birthday parties on the water.

We had Mr. Fishbeck , his dad and uncle for his 14th bday party on a redfishing trip. Followed by a hands down redhead beatdown that evening. Sunday morning we followed up our redheads with a couple bluebills, GWTa shovelers and a mallard hen which was extremely weird.

We have the spilt opener Sunday available

~~~~Second Opener Update~~~~
Our season opened back up with bang. The Friday before it opener back up we had several inches of snow on the ground like I have never seen before on the coast. With that being said it opened up new real estate for the birds Saturday and Sunday after the snow melted leaving sheetwater everywhere. We found ourselves swatting redheads, pintails, shovelers, wigeons, teal, buffleheads bluebills and a merganser. Saturday afternoons hunt was nothing short of amazing. I seen one of the biggest redhead shows I’ve ever seen down here, it was a sight to see and something that I will never forget.
Our ducks are still building on numbers that can only be described as amazing.
Gunning and fishing the Port O’Connor and Seadrift area.
Guys and Gals I was involved in a truck accident this past Tuesday night which had me cancel some trips. At 56mph I had a lady pull out in front of me and I T boned her straight up the middle on the driver side. I never once saw her pull out and never hit the brakes. I had a Hudson Police officer right behind me when I hit the lady and he told me he never once saw anyone hit someone at that speed and just get up and walk away from it as easy as I did. After a trip to the ER , sprained wrist, sprained ankle, sore neck and back, I was back scouting Friday morning. Please everyone pay attention to the toad and stay off your phones and look both ways before pulling out onto the street. I’m not saying she was on her phone by any means.
This past weekend was nothing short of awesome Diver Action. We had redheads and bluebills working the blocks in true diver fashion....
definetly a good weekend and blessed to be alive.
The last few days our weather has been ducky for sure. We have hunted in hard 25mph north winds, rain and sleet. Scouting has been paying off as we have been on some solid shoots regardless of the weather. Even our fishing has been outstanding.
The Port O’Connor area has livened up since these last two weeks and looks like it won’t stop anytime soon.
JUST HAD A LAST MINUTE RESCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEKWND DEC 30-31 is now open
The last several days has been nothing short of outstanding. From high cold winds, low tides, sleet and rain in your face our waterfowl hunting has been outstanding. Have had several first time duck hunters to several mountable trophy’s. Definetly kicking it into high gear the last part of the season.
I have Jan 6,7,8,13,14,27,28 open
