Henry Ranch Outfitters - 11/16/15 05:29 AM

I booked a huntwith Heston, he asked for 800.00 upfront, I sent a 1000.00
I had 3 hunters and asked if he had 12 does and a small buck for my son. He said he had a lot of deer and guaranteed shot opportunities. Now I've hunted with several outfitters on this page and never had a problem, this wasn't as advertised.
1. we sat over three feeders, two didn't work. I checked for sign at the two I was on, and there wasn't any, because the feeders hadn't been operating.
2. Everyone drove at least 500 miles, and we've hunted in Shamrock plenty of Times with other outfitters so we know the deer and the area really well.
3. in two different hunts, I saw a small 4 point and a larger 8, but the other hunters didn't see anything, and I feel that was because the feeders hadn't been working in a while and with no other food source close they had left the area.
4. Heston is a very nice young man, but has a lot to learn yet, but maybe with time he will get better
5. He said he was MLD, but didn't have his tags in yet? So he offered us another does, but he didn't know that without MLD Tags, that is a two doe county. So if we had shot the number agreed upon and used out tags, we could have been fined, and had everything confiscated.
6. The guaranteed shot didn't happen, and we weren't seeing any does, I mean zero, so I asked him for a partial refund, since not one shot was fired, He said we were even. Now guaranteed shot opportunity is just that.
7. He is in college full time in Lubbock, so I feel that doesn't allow him enough time to manage his place right. because those feeders had no sign and no corn or didn't work.
I've never written anything negative about any outfitter here, and after two hunts of not seeing anything, I called another outfitter, that came through on a moments notice even though he was booked solid, read my next review.

Is this low fence operation? Y'all wanted to take 13 deer between 3 people? Sounds a bit optimistic. Without knowing more details, sounds like he is abusing the MLD program. If he is even on it.

Highly recommend you report this to the County Game Warden, at the least this guy is unethical and the word should be put out on him.

Henry Ranch....I've hunted Shamrock and Childress for years low fence. Sometimes I've shot 7 does in one sitting, the most 9 in 3 hours. Usually 4 per sitting is average. You have to remember this is farm country with tons of deer, it's not uncommon to see 100 deer on a field. Winter wheat everywhere. I have hunted with Johnny, Yancy and always, I mean always max out for meat and reasonable prices on bucks for both of them.
