Galveston Bay Fall Fishing is finally here! - 09/20/15 07:49 PM
Fall will officially start on Wednesday and that not only means hunting season is here but it is also the best fishing of the year. The next few months will create a lot of different opportunities for having that fishing trip of a lifetime.
Here is what to expect.
October is still warm and we are hammering trout on the wellpads on good weather days and when it is windy we are up in the river catching redfish. Once the cold fronts start kicking in then so will the bird activity and the trout will move up on to the shallow flats with the redfish so it is a double bonanza. With the fantastic weather it is probably the nicest month of the year to fish!
As November rolls in the fish just seem to get hungrier with every passing front. Bird activity in the afternoons is outstanding and of course the flounder run starts to kick in and that is my favorite time of year by far. Anytime you can go out and catch 50 to 100 flounder almost everyday it is just awesome and that will happen come mid-November. Topwaters seem to be work very well in November along shorelines for specks and reds. This month is by far the best month of the year for fishing!
December is a much overlooked month with the bird activity still peaking for the first few weeks of the month and very hungry fish. The specks and reds are still on a feeding binge to fatten up before the water temperatures drop.
