New Blind

New Blind - 07/27/20 02:37 PM

Got on a new place and needed a new blind. I really wanted one a could move by myself and that would not take a trailer to haul. Settled on a 5 x 5 and it comes apart into 6 pieces and I can haul it in the back of the truck. Bought new wood for the base and new 2x4's (split into 2x2's)
for the frame but the panels are all reclaimed fence wood. Working on getting all the gaps filled but it already looks like is has been in place for years.[Linked Image]

Nice looking blind. Those old wood fence panels make a great lookunf one when done right. My BIL made one out of some abiut 15 years ago and it still looks good.

Turned out really nice. What did you use for the flooring?

The base is all new so pressure treated 2x4's topped with 3/4 pressure treated plywood. On the look out for some old carpeting to lay down over it.

Go to a carpet store and ask what they do with their take out carpet. Most of the time it is in the dumpster out back.

Great looking blind. Well done. up

I've got one old blind that I'm realizing can't have carpet or an office chair in it 'cause the pack rats love it too much. bang 'Previous owner/hunter's convoluted window design makes it virtually impossible to seal up.

I recommend screwing in foam board to cover the gaps and make it much warmer when needed......

Rap the inside with heavy black plastic cut down on cold drafts
