Blind door, the toughest part.....

For me anyway. Acquired an additional 250 acres, there were a couple of stands in need of repair.

Left was a 6 foot base, very sturdy. The base is 4 foot by 6 foot.. i framed a blind with 2x3's with 3 window frames 30x12, will probably order deerview.

Left framed opening in back for door, I left the opening 24.5 inches and am gonna buy a24 inch door off craigslist. The door is always the hardest part for me, ideas, suggestions????

Attach hinge to frame or to door, what is easiest ? What works better?

Camper doors on Ebay.........+/- $100 will get you a new one and it will seal better than you can build

I had deer view windows make my last door to my measurements price
wasn't bad at all and it fit nice.

Search for a water heater door, worked perfect for my build, and I think they may make one close to that size.

find a pre-hung exterior door at Lowes or home depot. usually just over $100, easy to install and watertight.

Get a RV door,they are sealed all the way around,and lock.

Went to Lowes, saw some prehung for about 70 bucks.

One problem, I need to cut it down to 72 inches. Is that a big problem?

Also, I need to move a 2x3 over a bit so the opening is a tad over 25 1/4 wide.

Cut an inch off each side, 2 inches on one side might weaken the thin frames they use.

If you going to cut down a 80" to a 72" you will take out all the wood supports top and bottom. Here is a trick cut off one end, peel the wood veneer off, slip back in door with glue and clamp. Will change hinge locations unless this don't bother you.
Wood door only. If buying metal clad door whole different ball game.

Just hunt from the ground, au natural.

Mobile home water heater door is perfect.

I'm a GC and I have my lumber/trim supplier build me 2'x5' doors - they cut down an exterior door blank and build exterior grade frame (called jamb saver material I believe). Has aluminum threshold and weatherstripping like most new home construction doors. They can put the knob at whatever height you want and swing it either direction, in or out swing. Pretty custom. All you have to do is paint it.

I'm shopping right now for blind doors and windows and having a hard time finding a camper style door on Ebay for under $200.

My last custom one ran about $150. Here is picture of it installed and painted.
