Spinner Plate Stuck - 10/20/15 02:02 PM

Trying to get an old spinner plate off a 12v motor so we can use the Eliminator plate. Old plate is stuck stuck and not moving at all. Anyone got any tips on how to unseize the old plate? WD40, silicone spray, torch it, etc? Plates have been on for about 10 years.

If the collar is aluminum, the tear away what you can. Use a hacksaw to cut into it or drill as close to the shaft as you can with a drill bit.

Penetrating oil and some gentle leverage with a think screw driver backed up against a block of wood. Make sure the set screw is backed all the way out.

Worst-case, put some channel locks around it an tap off with a hammer (straight down to avoid bending motor shaft).

I ended up using a dremel tool on one about a month ago. I used the big ( 1.75") cutting wheel and sliced downward, about an 1/8" to the side of the shaft. I only had to cut about half way, the carefully tapped a straight blade screwdriver into the notch I had cut. When I pulled the screwdriver out the plate slipped off with it.
