TOWER BUILD HELP - 12/06/14 02:39 PM

I have a 6'X4' metal box blind I need to elevate it about 12' up in the air,I can have a platform built but I do not know the angle the legs need to be at in order for it to be sturdy, does anyone have pictures or instructions, I need it to be put together out in the field(so it can be taken apart), I also need to know what would be the best way to secure the box blind to the platform.
Thank you,
Jack.confusedconfused

IF ANYONE IS WILLING TO TRADE WHAT I NEED IN RETURN FOR DIAMOND JEWELRY PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Might look at pallet racking on craigslist

Whomever is building the platform, should be able to get the angle you need easy enough. You can also get pre-made leg receivers with the angle already factored in.

As far as mounting the stand to the tower, that will depend on how the blind is built and where the strongest anchoring points are on the blind, then just use 3/8"-1/2" bolts to bolt the top to the tower. Is the box weldable at the bottom frame? May be able to weld on bolt "dog ears" to make this happen.

Thank you all, I will be using drill pipe as the legs.

These are cut on a double bevel at 7.5 degrees...

I try to figure mine to be whatever is haulable. On a 5' tower I can go to around 15 degrees, but a 6x6x10' platform I can only go 5 degrees double beveled like lazymans or else it's too wide to pull down the road comfortably.

WE built ours with 2 foot long stubs on each corner with an angle of about 10 degrees. When we got it to the pasture we used pipe in the stubs to raise it. Staked all 4 legs, then to stabilize it cross braced it with sucker rod welded in place. That was 30 years ago and it's still there.

up Easier to haul when you can break it down like that too.

If you have a wood base I would recommend ELEVATORS 4x4 brackets. They attach to 2x members with lag screws and have the compound angle needed to support the blind. After mounting the Elevators, you slide 4x4 posts into the pockets and secure them with lag screws too. The Elevators are available at Academy for $75/set of 4. Cheapest price I've ever seen them. Here's a pic of my blind I built this summer using them. Good luck.

Jack,

I cut mine at 10 deg, you can haul it by flipping it upside down on the trailer, legs in the air.. I haul 12' towers frequently and never had an issue.. If need be I can build you one and take it to your place, go look at Brad's on 7, I built his blind and tower and hauled it down in one trip on my trailer, no problems. Hope your wife is better.

x2 on the elevator brackets. We put a stand up with 12' 4x4. Worked great and has been up for a couple of seasons.

Use a 5 degree double bevel.
