Solar charger question - 09/16/14 03:49 AM
I am going to start using a feeder that has been stored for several years. What's the best way to test the solar panel to see if it is working? Thanks.

A volt meter is what you need. The volts should read 2 to 3 volts above the rated voltage for the panel in bright sunlight

I had the same situation for a feeder that had been sitting for 6plus years. The solar panel had been replaced with some cheap harbor freight one that was crudely mounted. Just for good measure I purchased one of the wildgame innovations ones from academy. Very good quality and all wires are in conduit. Think it was 25.00. Well worth it if yours ends up being questionable

Thanks for the help. The solar charger registers 16.25 and it's a 12 volt system so it looks like it's working. Timer is bad so I'll have to replace it.
