what a POS primos is!!

what a POS primos is!! - 07/30/14 04:14 AM

so I've been weighing the options on a new pop up blind.... had it between the rhino and primos blind luck...so i went to cabelas today, and since there isn't a rhino there, it was fairly easy to pick the primos.. i looked at it for probably 20 minutes or so and it seemed like it was a decent blind. so i get it home and set it up as per the directions, sets up pretty quick and easy. first thing we notice, is that it doesn't sit square. meaning that it leans even when everything is tight and like it should be. so i think maybe it'll stretch out. well i go to looking inside and the bungee straps are a joke. one doesn't even go all the way to the hook to hold the window up, there are 2 more that broke right at the seams when i hooked em on. I'm beyond pissed at this point.. so i decide yeah its going back, we get it folded up, and put the strap on to hold it and of course the damn buckle breaks. this has got to be the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen and they are wanting to continue to charge 300 for it. do not get this blind!!

Made a mistake. Rhino is a great blind made by great people and its 2/3's the price.

Wow. Only had one issue with my Double Bull. Had one of the poles break and they sent me a replacement at no cost. Have had them out for years and they have weathered the Texas heat and Kansas wind with no issues. Sorry about that bud, go get you a Rhino up

Like I said I'll be ordering a rhino today after I return the primos crap to cabelas. I could go on about the shoddy customer service at cabelas when 4 guys are standing there yacking it up and it's a bother for me to ask opinions on this blind. Shoulda went with the gut in this one.

X2. They are like little ovens in bow season.

When I have to use them, I've had the best luck with the cheap Ameristeps from Academy. They set up quick and are light and portable. However, they are not made to be left out for the long term. Fabric breaks down quick.

I've had 4 popups and they just don't last. I've got an original double bull and have made a few repairs but it's still going. I finally gave up on them and I'm building this beast. Not sure why it's sideways but it's 7x7x7 with 5 36"x12" deer view windows. I have about as much in it as a double bull.

I hunted out of a Primos pop up for about a season and a half. I don't know what model it was, but it was big and pretty well made. I didn't mind it at all, but I do like a hard blind off of the ground. As far as the service at Cabelas…I go to Bass Pro for a reason!!!

Good looking blind aggiehunter03…I am building an 8x8x8 in place this weekend so wish me luck! and I'm not trying to beat you by a foot in each direction, I am to lazy so I am buying everything in 8' lengths to keep cuts to a minimum haha

I just bought an ameristep battlefield from cabelas for $99. It's a 6'x6' an seems very well made. It's my first popup. If I can get 2 years out of it, I'll be happy. I just don't know that I'll have the time to build a box blind before season starts so I went with the popup. You might take a look at the ameristep. I'm very impressed so far.

Oh and cabelas has a $10 no questions asked replacement plan for them.

The replacement plan idea is a good one. I'd have done that had I known. Just get a new one every year or two.

Re: what a POS primos is!! - 07/31/14 06:25 AM

yeah so heres the update... took the primos back today, no big deal... went to eat lunch right next to there and I'm lucky i did, called rhino up directly and tried to order an xp1... well they are back ordered!! won't have them til late september at the best and then they ship out.. so of course theres no way that works to get it set up and let it be for a while before i hunt it. so i went back over to cabelas, after doing some research on what i knew they had in stock. and walked out with an ameristep bone collector on sale for 150. bought the protection plan for 18.00 and on my way i went. got home set it up and its perfect no issues, no weird lean no rips or tears. wrote primos a very strongly worded letter and won't be using their products ever again.

Man I sorry for your experience with them. I bought one of their refurbished Double Wide blinds for 175.00 and have had no issues. Guess it is luck of the draw.

Mine are the older blinds. Haven't tried any of the new ones, but don't use them as much. In Texas, I build ground blinds out of cattle panels and black fabric. I still have two in Kansas and will use them until they fall apart but like being up in the trees. When I am ready for one, I will more than likely order a rhino.

rhino is probably gonna be added to the arsenal, but for now given time constraints I'm stuck with the ameristep and a couple tree stands. however, primos did email me back and they apologized. they are sending me a ground blind chair and a trail cam for my trouble which i thought was a standup move.

I have a Primos Vision 360 and have had it for three years. It did get tore up a little in some fifty mph winds this last winter but nothing I can't fix with some duct tape. It's a little faded but if I need it this fall I will use it. Most of the pop ups aren't designed to stay out any more.

Arrowslinger,

Any thought on revising your subject line based on the Primos customer-service response? Seems like even thought the product you got was crap, the response by the company was pretty good.

well while i agree that the customer service was nice... i still think that their blinds are pieces of you know what. i appreciate the fact that they offered the cam and chair, but at 300.00 for a blind.. i should've not had to go through that. primes as a company is probably well run and obviously they have good values. i just believe that the quality control is lacking, and prices are inflated... much like a lot of companies out there.
