Merrell Hiking Boots Great Customer Service

Merrell Hiking Boots Great Customer Service - 04/30/18 11:14 AM

Bought a pair of Merrell hiking boots a while back from Gander Mountain in Lewisville. Usually I am a frugal (cheap) Bastage except when it comes to my feet, so I sucked it up and spent a little over a Hun $$ for these boots based off the salesman recommendation.

About a week ago I had a blow out on the front right foot, the sole had separated from the body of the boot.
Time to get a new pair right, question was which kind?

But something about this boot situation was bothering me, I still had good rubber on the bottom, tops were in decent shape so good boots from a good company ought to wear out from the bottom up right?

I decided to write/email the company yesterday (Sunday) and share my concern about the quality of the product I purchased.
I sent pictures with my email and after three email exchanges and pictures sent, they are going to replace my boots for free!

Now that is great customer service and I will certainly buy their product again when needed up

Pics of my worn out warriors. They had me cut the tongues out to take out of cirulation.

I’m happy to see that post. I have the same pair on my feet right now. I bought them for a trip to Guadeloupe Peak last year. The dang things are so comfortable that my Nikes just sit in the closet these days.

Academy runs them on sale periodically for $89-99. Can’t remember which.

These are some tough shoes too. Going up the trail At Guadeloupe we saw pieces of soles off of other people shoes. These handled the sharp rocks with comfort and ease.

While not hikers, I wear a pair of their leather top slip-on shoes with vibram soles about four days a week.
They are very comfortable and when they wear out, I'll replace with same.

Went on a moose hunt in WY in 2005. September, no snow.

The first day I wore some all leather 10” heavy Lowa boots. Felt like weights on my feet. The second day the young whippersnapper guide said “Why don’t you just wear those Merrell’s you had on when you got here?” (They were just like yours.) DUH!! So much more comfortable.

I wear lightweight hikers 90% of the time in the mountains these days.

I love my Merrells.
I have the high top shoes (they call them boots now) and the low tops. I can go about two years before I get a pair in that bad of shape, then I go get another pair. Good shoes.

I wish I could wear them but I have 5EE width feet. they just don't make them that wide.

The soles seem to be a hit-or-miss problem with Merrells. I wear the low top hikers as my everyday shoes and have had the same problem as you. Last two pairs I've worn seem to be good and did not blow out. I think about getting something with better quality, but they are so comfortable on me and cheap enough on Amazon, I keep buying them.

Cabelas has close out pricing on the 2017 Salmon 4D 2 hiking boots to make way for the 2018 4D 3 model . They are a no brainer at closeout prices.

Good Looking Boots up

I was thinking the same thing but my merrels have been great for my feet with my considerable weight and rough lifestyle. I now have a reasonable durable option other than my work boots.

I have liked Merrells for a while, but I just recently switched to Oboz as has my husband and they are fantastic. Used them straight out of the box on a 13 mile hike in RMNP and they were perfect. Excellent grip on the soles too, more so than the Merrells I had.
