Canon 70D for $800.00

Just really depends your budget as to how good quality you want . But this one will do all you want without breaking the bank with all the quality you need unless your going professional business . But quality camera is only 1/3 what makes quality images/videos . 1/3 is the quality lens and the quality software for video editing . PSE Premier is a great starting point and cheap but the Pro version is expensive . The kit lens will give you decent images/videos but better quality glass lens will make it even better . So there you have it , first is Budget , then 1/3 camera , 1/3 lens , 1/3 software .

800 for camera only no lens. That may be more than I need or know how use to its full potential.

If you don't mind used (and rated) look at: keh.com, bandh.com and adorama.com

All have a rating system for their used equipment.

My budget would be: 1/2 lens, 1/3 camera and rest software. Buy a good camera, and excellent lens. There are several software packages that are far easier to learn than the full Photoshop (former instructor). PSE is good for photos, not sure about videos.

If you are near Garland, Garland Camera has several used cameras and they are customer oriented. I just bought a 200mm lens and have several follow up calls asking how it's working.

You might look into one of the small pocket digitals. My old Nikon coolpix takes great pics and decent videos, though not long ones. I have vids of machine gun shoot, felling trees, etc that are pretty decent but certainly not broadcast quality.
Some of the pocket digital cameras do a really good job. Ours has been through it all in about 15 years and we just now are thinking of an upgrade, replacement.
