Whatever your gun can shoot 10 shots into an inch with

Never miss again at those ranges of engagement

The ability to consistently put the bullet where you want it is much more important than grain weight

What Ammo does your gun like ?

Re: .308 Ammo Question - 12/10/20 09:24 PM

Deer 150 grain.
Hogs 180 grain.
Both 165 grain.

LOL!

All kidding aside, whatever load is most accurate and gives you the desired bullet performance whether that emphasizes expansion or penetration. Accuracy never goes out of style.

I’m currently using Sierra SBT 165grs and don’t have any complaints. Currently shooting 1/2 MOA with 4064 and has put 8 pigs down this season so far. Haven’t shot a deer with them yet though.

I'm going to say it doesn't matter unless it's something really big.

150 gr to 178 gr.

An old classic, that does good on almost everything is a 165 gr Sierra Game King spire point boattail.

I like 150 gr accubonds in mine...but as has been mentioned already, just about any of the common bullets in 308 150-178 gr will work well.

165s and 168s were all I ever used in the 308s I owned

150gr soft points reloaded by CHAD here on the forum. Son uses them and gets either very short tracking job or DRT on deer and hogs

Been shooting/hunting with .308 for over 47 years and have always liked the 150 gr. Russian wild boar, Chamios and European Roe deer while stationed in Europe. WT Deer, wild hogs, Sika, Axis in USA. The 150 gr has always produced in my .308's. The others mentioned are very good as well. Shoot different brands and bullet weights and let your rifle decide what it likes best!
