Sorry, but I need to vent....

Sorry, but I need to vent.... - 01/18/19 10:15 PM

Well, we made our trip to Wally-World for a few groceries, so naturally I made my normal circle through the Sporting Goods Dept. Not an employee to be found, the ammo cabinet has been moved to behind the counter, and right on the floor. This puts the ammo about 6 to 8 feet from the counter and like I said, right on the floor, no way to see what each box is, what grain the bullet was. Stepped over to the Automotive Dept and ask an employee about the Sporting Goods and her answer was, I have already paged someone about 3 times about 10 minutes ago and no one has shown up. They also had some new Henry Rifles and a couple of Marlins that I would have liked to look at. While we were there, 2 other people came up stood around for a few minutes and left. Another few minutes and we left also. I don't understand why a store would have a department that has to have someone who knows a little bit about what they are selling and then not staff it.
Ok, rant over.

Yep, I don't buy much there but when I do usually have to chase somebody down to get service.

It's Wal-Mart! That's what they do. I swore off that place years ago. The head ache of going there combined with their Anti-American corporation policies is plenty of reason to not go there.

I never have a problem stepping behind the unattended counter to look at ammo.

A phone call to home office in Bentonville will get that store's manager attention and you will get a phone call from him if you want one. My wife & I tried for 45 minutes to get someone in the sporting goods dept., a year ago to get non-resident license in Camden, Ark.. Finally a member of management showed up. Took her 20 minutes to do what should have taken 5 minutes but that was not her normal job.

After reading this thread this morning I stepped to the counter in Canton when I was there this afternoon. 5 minutes standing there and not a sole in sight. I did see a 22 for sale for $199 that’s being sold used here for $225. Go figure.

I never go in Walmart, I don't care if they are giving guns away.
Last one I was in 20 years ago was so filthy when I got back to my truck I kicked off my shoes and left them there.

I stopped shopping at Walmart years ago. My life is better because of it.

We buy groceries online from WM and the kids load them in my truck. Aanything else gets shipped free to me from their site. If I need it now, order online for local pickup from stock. Pickup is right inside the door.

You made me laugh when you said you made your normal circle through sporting goods. I do the same, as I’m sure most of us on here do.

Sorry about that ammo move. That stinks

About 20 years ago I was working in Big Spring and I noticed that Big Spring had a Wal-Mart Supercenter. I had always heard you had to have at least 50,000 population to have a Supercenter, and Big Spring was about 23,000 at the time. I asked a local at work about it. He said that once upon a time Sam Walton was quail hunting in the area and ran out of shotgun shells. He mentioned that he would run to the local Wal-Mart in Big Spring and get more shotgun shells. His guide mentioned that there was no Wal-Mart in Big Spring, and Sam was furious. 6 months later Big Spring had a Supercenter.

Sam was a big bird hunter. Ol' Roy Dog Food was named after one of his bird dogs. It is definitely not the same company since he passed.

Just my .02,

It's Walmart, you can't have high expectations. Come to think of it you can't even have low expectations. Its Walmart the store that has 14 check out lanes and 2 cashiers.

I don't even look at their ammo anymore much less their guns. If I'm buying factory ammo I can have it delivered to work cheaper and with less headache. Walmart is the armpit of America.

I always stop to check the "rollback" prices on the ammo when I do my usual circle. Saw some .30-06 federal premium for $11 but was sold out already. They do have some deals sometimes, getting through the entire purchase is a whole inconvenience though usually. I bought a savage axis back when they first started carrying them for under $200, then starting modifying it myself. Some deals to be had once in awhile. Anyone else find good deals there ever?

I always stock up for hunting season in March @ Wallie World. All their stink sprays and anti smell stuff is usually 70%-80% off by then. Selection is spotty of course, but what deal I were there were great.

Tinks #69 Estrus and doe pee was $2 a bottle.

Bastads at it again. Took 30 minutes to get 9mm. That and 22 are the only thing I don’t load for.

I had a marketing professor in college and he would brag about Sam Walton and his business practices. Basically to the point of me thinking, "sounds like you needed some alone time with Sam him self."

He would also talk about how when Sam Walton would hold meetings in his stores he would take them on the floor in the bathrooms to make sure the stores were always clean. These stories were being told to me about 15 years after he had passed.
