204 Ruger

204 Ruger - 05/08/18 08:51 PM

Picked up a TC Venture 204 at a pawn shop closing auction, about $200 brand new in box. Looking for some input on bullets for fur harvesting and powder recommendations. Varget looks promising, any advice? 1:10 twist and it has the 22 " bull barrel.

By the way it was an interesting auction, quite a few new in box guns. Good deal on a few ARs too. Little bit of everything.

I shoot a 40 Gr. Nosler ballistic tip over Win 748 in my 204.

RE 10 and benchmark are excellent powders for the 204

If you can find them, the Hornady 45grain soft point is the only way to go for saving fur.

Quick look shows Natchez SS has them in stock. The stock load has the 45SP going 3600fps.
