143 ELD X Performance - 12/17/17 01:59 AM

This 143 grain ELD X was removed from the left jaw bone of the Mule deer I shot after traveling from the right side of the back of his neck from 187 yards. The bullet was shot out of my 6.5x47 traveling 2670 fps.

That’s some pretty serious penetration. I can’t tell from the pic, but how much of the lead was left? What was your overall impression of the bullet’s performance?

The lead at the base of the bullet looks to still be intact the rest is just copper jacket. I really like the performance I've killed several whitetail and none of the took more than 10 steps . Most fell where they were shot due to neck shots. My daughter shot a buck in the shoulder from 172 yards and broke both shoulders he went maybe 10 yards on his nose. Coyotes don't stand a chance neither do pigs. I would shoot an Elk with them if had a chance.

They’re awesome on elk and I had a 1shot kill on an oryx with that bullet.

How about WT Deer, too much bullet? Will it expand or make a .264 hole in and out?

Fo real?

A 6.5 Creedmoor is now too much bullet for a whitetail?

Buzz,

You worried about lack of expansion? I can't imagine ELDX having issues especially with a plastic tip and lead core.

Shoot them in the neck and you won't have to worry about a thing.

roflmao

Maybe he needs a .22 tackdriver, just put one in the ear. He is capable.

Buzz, relax brother. An ELD X out of a Creedmoor will get the job done. up I have two boxes and not opened them yet until I am done with the load development for the Hybrids. They are next and going to try them out before the season ends.

That poor deer needed a biscuit.

I shot two deer this year with them and both did the job. The big 9pt went about 100 yards due to my shot placement. I recovered the bullet from that one that I will try to post a pic when I get home. It was a quartering away shot that I hit at the rear of the left rib-cage and recovered the bullet in the right shoulder still intact with a close to perfect mushroom.

That poor deer needed about 3 more years.....I'm almost certain it is a fawn, not a doe. roflmao

Update. 11 year old daughter of one my friends/ coworker used a 143ELDX from 6.5 CM I loaded yesterday to take a Spike Bull Elk this afternoon. 40 yard shot dropped it in it’s tracks.
Tried to add photo but still no luck doing that from iPad??
