300WM load data

Hornady doesn't list any data for 225 ELD match with H1000. Found some info on another forum of a guy running a ladder test from 70-79 gr (not sure how he had case capacity without compressed load) without pressure spikes until 79.5 gr. Any experience or advice here? Otherwise all I have to go off of is some internet data.

Look at my Speer manual.
Look at my Sierra manual.
Look at Hodgdon.com

Using a bullet of as close to the same weight as what I will be using, on all three sources. The highest listed high, is what I use. And I may go past that a bit.

If you get compressed powder on a .300 Win Mag, so what. I run 7 Rem Mags compressed with Retumbo.

Piggy back the data for the 220 grain bullets, and you will be good. 79 grains seems really WARM with a 225! I run Retumbo in mine, and I'm less than that powder charge weight, and H1000 is faster burning.

Also, it greatly depends on your seating depth and what brand of brass you are running. The max powder charge will vary greatly depending on those 2 factors.

Jason, thats exactly what I did as far as information sources.

I started at 73 and went up to 76 in .5 increments. Based on .020 off the lands, 76gr Im getting slight compression. COAL of 3.525. Running Nosler brass and CCI 250. I really wanna get 2800-2850 out of it. Should be able to push that a mile and still have some punch left at that distance.

That's fast! I'm running my 225 BTHP Hornady bullet at 2802 in a 29", tight bore (.298") barrel with a stiff load of Retumbo, Nolser brass, seated about 3.500+. I have taken it to a mile also, multiple times. It will do well for you.

A slight compression is fine, and normal. I don't know if you will reach the 2800 fps, if you are running a 26" barrel and H1000. I'm running 230 Berger's for customer rifles at 2700-2750, depending on the load and rifle. 2700 fps with a 230 Berger has been pushed over 2000 yards. It will work!
