Reloader 16 and 6.5 Creedmoor - 10/07/17 11:43 PM

Anybody using this combination, specifically with 140 grain pills?

I'm thinking about starting 10% below the published 260 Rem loads that Alliant has listed ...

I'd love to hear someone else's input who tried it....

Or you could use this data

https://sierrabulletsblog.com/2017/01/09/sierra-bullets-6-5-creedmoor-load-data/

I loaded 6.5Creedmoor with R16 and the 130 ELD and the 143 so far. 130 was excellent and have not shot the 143’s

thanks, did you take velocity readings on the 130 gr?

What did your groupings look like?

I found a guy on YouTube that documented R16 with nosler rdf and sierra matchkings - velocity was outstanding but groups were disappointing - that's in his RPR ...

Seen some folks on facebook groups using it. They're putting lots and lots of powder in there though - not sure what the case capacity is on a 6.5, but they've got to be at darn near the limit. Saw someone loading at 47 grains IIRC?

I also had two pics of groups but now very time I try to post pictures I get a box saying my pictures are in wrong format??? Not sure what changed on forum or if it’s on my IPhone.
Well now even copy and paste doesn’t work???? Maybe since I updated to IOS 11 the website here has bugs with that system?

Anyway there is a old post back a month or so about the 130 ELD

I'm getting better accuracy and more velocity with RL16 and 143 ELD-X than I did with H4350 through my 20" Bartlein. I'm averaging .3 groups at 2690fps MV with 42.3 grains in Lapua brass with CCI 450s. Hopefully the Nazi Mods won't move your thread to another topic and you'll get more of the feedback that you're looking for.

I have tested the 140 berger vld's, 143 ELDX, and 140 Amax for 6.5 Creedmoor. Using H4350, IMR 4451, and RL-16. H4350 is very consistent but ran into pressure signs before I got the velocity I wanted. IMR 4451 is definitely a favorite, I had my best groupings with it. RL-16 is very stable and fast, I got the best velocity with my crono and tight groupings. All of these powders are not the easiest to find however. With H4350 I was averaging 2658, With IMR 4451 I was averaging 2670, with RL-16 I was averaging 2730. All fired from a Ruger American Predator.

Good info. That is a slow load with H4350. I'm hoping my Tikka CTR will run a little faster than that. Haven't started loading for it yet.

To the OP's question - I've heard that to beat the H4350 velocity, you have to compress RL16. I'm leaning heavily towards sticking with H4350 and living with the velocity I get unless it's just terrible.

H4350 is definitely a great choice. I will use it also bc I have quite a bit of it. Its runs really smooth and consistent. I just like trying different bullets and primers.
