IMR 4166 powder? - 10/07/17 02:54 AM

Any have any experience with the new IMR 4166? I've been using IMR4064 for my loads out to 1,000 yards, with great results, but I'm thinking about trying a powder with less temperature sensitivity, to reduce variables. Just trying to decide between the IMR4166 or Varget. My application is a 308 bolt action target rifle.

Only thing I have tried 4166 in is the 6.5 Grendel and it works well with 123gr bullets if you don't mind having a lot of crunch but Varget has the same problem in that small case. Temp wise it does pretty dang good and no copper fouling is nice if the gun builds it up quickly.

Quite sure both will work well for your 308, know Varget does.

AR Comp is also very close to 4166 and has all the same characteristics and can be found cheaper.
