Grendel 129sst hornady - 09/14/17 12:40 AM

Anyone know where some ammo is? Don't want to reload for my Grendel just yet and the sst looks the best for deer hunting

Alexander Arms offers it, they now use Hornady instead of Lapus brass that they used for years.

Precision Firearms Has a few 129 to 130ws but not the Hornady SST in that weight. Their ammo is more expensive than many others but they use Lapua brass which isn't cheap brass and the 129gr Accubonds have dome really well in the little cartridge. Remember prices here are for boxes of 50

Chad could also load you up some ammo I bet

In reality Hornady 123gr SST is a very good hunting round for it or the ELD-X load works.

There is also a 100gr Barnes load from PF, 120gr Fusion from Federal as well

The SST is fine, but don't overlook the ELD-X. It's deadly in a Grendel.

My main concern was velocity on the 143grain bullet and expansion out of an 18in barrel. I wish they made a lighter eld x

If worried about expansion go for the Long Range Accubond, be sure if reloading for it to use a VLD type seater stem that bullet is soft up front. Expansion is advertised to be as low as 1300fps and ballistic gelatin tests show very good expansion at 1500fps.

PFs ammo did well on hogs if I remember correctly for Double naught Spy.

I have them loaded up for the Grendel at 2500fps from my 22 inch barrel just haven't tested them on critters yet.

Same load I worked up for the Berger 130s seating depth and all worked well for the Accubonds LR.

They make and load a 123 grain specifically for the Grendel. It's the match bullet, which is a retipped A-Max, and is deadly on game at Grendel velocities. Don't let the name fool ya. It'll kill.

Hornady 123gr 6.5 bullets were designed specifically for the Grendel.

the boar in this pic was taken at about 80 yards with the A-Max factory load with a high shoulder shot. No exit that I saw but the s back was broken after going through the shoulder blade.

That’s a bit high. Other retailers are in the 80c a round range

Hornady made a 95gn Vmax in .264 as well. Might be a good option for predators. They scream out of a 6.5cm.

Those 95 Gr V-Max are super accurate and great Varmint medicine.
But I'm pretty sure they only come in the roll your own variety?

Fairly certain vmax fragments so that's a no go

Yep, forgot about that little snag.
