Hornady 143 gr ELD-X bullet in the 6.5 CM

Who's using this bullet in their Creedmoor?

What powder's are you using,and what type of velocities are you getting?

My trigger finally arrived for my new build,and I'm going to try out this bullet for this rifle. I'm also trying out the new small primer Lapua 6.5 CM brass.
I shoot the Berger 140 VLD-H out of my other Creedmoor,and use Hornady and Nosler large primer brass with it.

I mainly use H4350,RL 17,and RL 19 with the 140 gr,and I'm running low on H4350 right now. I want to try some RL 26 with the 143 gr bullet,just need to buy some.

If it were me, I would buy 8-16 pounds of IMR 4451, load it with 42.0 gr to 44.0 gr, and go test.

H-4350 is too hard to find, and there's plenty of reports of IMR 4451 doing a stellar job in the 6.5 Creedmoor.

stole this load from JG, but he will say "it's the Standard in the Creed..." which it is.

I've used H4350 for years as well as Reloader 17 & 19 along with many other powders in the years that I've shot the 6.5 CM,but I've always shot the Berger VLD & Amax 140's. I figured I'd try the 143's out of this one.
I'll be headed to the range in the morning,I did some ladder test here at the house today and got 2900 fps out of the Reloader 17 without showing any pressure signs on the brass or primers using the Lapua small primer brass.

17 has always shown me to be very unstable in hige temp swings.

I've been using IMR 4451 with really good results. Groups are probably tighter than with H4350. I don't have a chrono so I have no idea about speed.

Is IMR 4451 fairly temp stable?

It can be troublesome in hot weather, but I've had good results with it in several rifles.

Anyone that needs some H4350, Alpine Shooting Range has 1 & 8 lbs in stock. I just grabbed an 8 lb jug for $209.

I'm shooting the 143 ELD-X with 42.2 of H-4350, BR-2 primers, Hornady brass, at an OAl of 2.813. Using the .311 G7 BC it seems to be spot on for me, but the furthest I have shot it is 1060 so far.

I shoot a 260 AI, close to the same capacity as the 6.5 CM.

IMR 4451 gave almost the exact same accuracy and velocities.

I've tried several powders and picked up about 100fps switching to RL26 with single digit ES/SD numbers.

I have a 6.5 creed on order, so I have no valuable input. Just making sure I can find this thread later!

I tried 4451 in my Creed, and it did just fine. The node was at a bit lower velocity than with H-4350, but accuracy was about the same. For all practical purposes, no real difference. Except availability.
