Recrowning a 50 Cal Muzzleloader - 11/12/19 03:52 AM
Last season, the shoulder strap on my muzzleloader broke, and the gun landed muzzle down, putting a decent scratch on the crown. Since I can no longer get an accurate group at the bench, I need to do something about it. I tried to grind it myself with a marble and valve grinding compound, which cut down on the burs a bit but not nearly enough.
Unfortunately, none of the gunsmiths in the Austin area have the right tool to recrown a 50 caliber muzzleloader, so it looks like I'll have to ship it out somewhere for custom work. Does anyone have any recommendations, especially somewhere in central TX?
It's a TCA Omega Z 50 caliber. I'm trying to avoid having to send it to TCA for work except as a last resort.
