New to me PSE Xpedite NXT 80 pounds - 04/15/23 05:25 AM

The new starter in the lineup. Holy crap what a sweet bow. This bow is smoother and easier to draw than my Brute set at 80, but it should be a whole lot faster.

Man, you would think this bow would rip my shoulder right out, the way people talk about speed bows and high draw weight. This thing is super smooth.

I picked her up on the archerytalk forum for $600. This bow has barely been used, factory strings look good. Came with a spare set of strings and cables. It’s barely been shot.

Bare shaft tune - 04/15/23 05:20 PM

This bow has no stabilizer or anything. The only thing I dis to it, is set the draw length to 30” and made sure the limbs were maxed out.

Then I put a QAD hunter on there and lined it up with the arrow guide on the shelf. After that, I nocked an arrow in the existing nock point andleveled it in with the berger button hole. Then I slapped a old single pin sight i had laying around on there and took it out.

Here is my first group bare shaft tuning from about 20 yards:

So no adjustments made to the rest yet. Sighted it in at about 20 yards and busted a luminok:

Took it back to about 40 yards and shot a 4 shot group. 570 grain arrows. Aim point at the carrying handle here, with the 20 yard zero:

The grouping:

Hand for reference. I wear XL gloves.

First bare shaft at 40 yards:

I ain’t changing NOTHING! I anchor my nock in the corner of my mouth, nose on the string, top of my hand on my ear. Tilt my head until the string matched the stripe on the level, focus on the target, and put the pin on the aim point. Money!

Now I’m afraid to put any accessories on there

Now I don’t even have to line up the string. Just level my sight and put the pin on the target where i am focused and it works. Also my slick trick heads are hitting same poi. Happy happy happy smile

now try fixed broad heads, thats were you find out really how tuned she is. I know a lot of guys that love that bow.

modern soeed bows are near as bad as they where 10 years ago, and no where near 20 years ago

Already tried the slick trick standards, they are pounding the center and shoot tighter than the field points.

I had backed up my block with a shot out bone collector crossbow target turned sideways because the center is so shot up, stil slings the arrow through all that into the dirt lol. Bent up a couple of my slick tricks but they still shoot straight!

What’s really crazy is I tried a 330 spined walmart shaft, the carbon express speed freak, and they will shoot together too. Just a couple inches higher than my GT 250’s. Unreal, according to the keyboard warriors these arrows should not shoot worth a damn out of this bow.

overly stiffer spine shoot really good close and open up at range. underspined tend to be the opposite. With that said its a bigger window on spine then most people think.

also remember upfront weight and length can change spine.

I definitely need to get some things together for target repair. The center of my block is too shot up, it’s not stopping this bow, they are zipping all the way through and exiting. Buried a couple to the fletching in the bone collector crossbow target behind it, heads in the dirt. I assumed because i turned it sideways it would stop them. Must have hit it just right, too.

Here is 4 shots with slick tricks, 40 yards, not cherry picked. I let bass pro serve the peep in for me, naturally it comes unraveled lol. Don’t matter, i sighted it in without the peep and moved the peep into my sight picture, not the other way around. I sorta whiffed one a little high and left. Well, my peep is unraveling so it might have been part of it. Normally I lose a fletching when i play this game.

I am using a 5 pin sight now though. That’s a CBE micro, sighted in with field tips.

Anyway i’m shooting every head i have from 100-125 grains to the same POI at 40 yards, except standard muzzy 3 blades. Muzzy 3 blades at 40 yards spread across the whole damn target face.

Slick Trick Standards shoot darn good IMO. QAD Ultrarest is easy to tune and hard to beat. Gold Tip Hunter XT must stand for Extra Tough because they are.

This bow slings them hard. 80 pounds, 360 IBO. No clue how fast they are actually going but I’m not worried. About 595 grains maybe a little more with those heat shrink vanes.

Weighed these arrows with the heat shrink vanes, and chronoed at local shop. 602 grains pushing 291-292 feet per second. That’s pretty quick with a heavy shaft like that.

I input that in the Ashby calculator, that put my corrected IBO speed at 351. This bow is just rediculous.

I just switched to 100 grain heads (annihilators), that should put my arrow weight back down to a hair over 575 grains. Probably pushing them very close to 300 fps.

Barely pushing over 12% FOC with this set up. The Hunter XT shafts are just too heavy for good FOC without putting too much weight in the front, I would need more arrow spine and when you increase spine from here it starts getting REAL heavy. Of course the heat shrink vanes and the luminocks are also killing my FOC.

I am really not too worried about it. I bet a bow like this will slam an arrow clean through a deer with just the 100 grain insert and nothing else up front.

Really getting pumped up for this year. Been bass fishing to pass the time but now it’s time to get the bow ready.
