Going on my first bow hunt later this month... - 10/05/14 03:17 PM

My uncle has a place in northern Wisconsin. Driving up there the last week of October to bow hunt with him. Really looking forward to it.

Trying to go through all my gear and see what else is needed. As far as I can tell, just two more pieces: better gloves and a quieter jacket. He said it's usually in the lower 20s in the morning and mid 40s later in the day that time of year...

Tags allow one buck and one antlerless. With any luck, I'll fill the freezer for the year from this trip.

Been practicing each day with my bow in the backyard at 20 yards. Only days I seem to get way off is on a gym day. smile

Have some 100 grain standard Slick Tricks and picked up some Rage 2" mechanicals yesterday.

Hopefully will have some cool pics to share when I get back! laugh

Good luck Jason; sounds like you're going to have a great time. There are some really big bucks in Wisconsin.

Good luck, you may consider practicing a bit with low light outsides

Sounds like the potential for an awesome trip. Make sure you do a little practicing with the BH you plan to use rather than simply relying on the field point accuracy to give you confidence in your set up. Personally, I would be using the fixed blade slick tricks to more likely ensure pass thru performance consistency. I also would back up from 20 yards and shoot a little further distance. If the furthest you practice is 20 on targets, you will be doing yourself an injustice if you would attempt a 30, 40, or further distance field shot on an animal. Good luck in the following weeks and days fine tuning and getting ready for a successful hunt!

Agree on about 90% of this. I like rage but either way a good hit will be a kill for you.
