RAGE

Hope I made the right choice... I bought some Rage broadheads yesterday, they seemed to fly right and opened fine on the foam target. We will see next weekend...

Agreed, They usually don't make it too far using them. I don't think you will have any trouble.

Did you opt for the 2 or 3 blade version?

I opted for the 2 blade. I really wanted to use the 3 blade but the two blade had a larger cutting diameter. I've always used Muzzy's so this mechanical broadhead has me a little worried. I'm going to test them on a few deer in Brady before I decide to use them on my Hagerman hunt in November.

Keep good orings and they will be fine.

There are non believers here on THF and those folks have every right not to believe but I personally believe. I have killed multiple animals with them and I say they work and they work really well. Entry holes are crazy. just like the commercial says...it's like throwing an axe through and animal.

I'm a big fan of two heads the rage and phathead sob.

Both have great entry wounds, but you have to make sure you take good care of them.

I bought some the year they came out and they were really noisy in flight. Are they still noisy?

Haven't noticed this. Maybe because I wasn't listening for it though. I do know they're load when they impact an animal. Made me say OUCH a few times after I have shot.

They do major damage! Just keep a good eye on your orings...its never fun to draw back and a blade fall outa place cuz of a wore oring...

I had a buddy that had the same problem and i finaly found out he was shootin them with the blades out and not set.

I shot my practice tip and it was quiet. I shot a real broadhead and the only time I noticed the noise is when the O ring was bad. I think if you keep the O ring in good shape it eliminates the noise. This is my first time to shoot them so I may be wrong.

Never had any problems with them. You will be amazed at the blood trail.

Did you have problems with the Muzzys? Just wondering why you changed to mechanical?

I just noticed the last couple of years, seems like the Muzzy's are made with crappier material or something. The blades dont seem to be as good as they used to be. I lost a good buck last year with a pinwheel shot. Just got me to looking at other options.

Everyone keeps saying keep your o-ring in good shape. How do you do this? Can't you just clip the blade into place and leave it until you shoot an animal or does it periodically need to be replaced even if it isn't shot?

Those O-rings should be fine if kept in climate controlled place out of the sun.

Rage's are too high maintenance. The pro's don't outweigh the cons IMO...

I have posted on Rage before and my one and only experience with them was not good. The deer dropped in its tracks, but the arrow had deflected after impact and when up through the spine. I don't know why, but it wasn't shot placement.

I know people that have shot Rage and know a few that hate them. I know more that like them though. This weekend in Kansas, my buddy shot a bobcat and a doe and the tracking and damage on both was impressive.

Can't say that it changed my mind and that I would switch, but the performance was good.

If you hit them where you are suppose to..... it really shouldn't matter what you are using. good luck!

The orings tend to get worn out which keeps them from holding the blades in place and they might open during flight, if you check them out you can tell if they are losing their grip, then just go by replacement orings and they are as good as new. Also what i do is put a thin strip of scotch tape around the blades, it keeps them in place but they have no problem opening on impact, also that helps keeping them in a quiver with no problems. I was a firm believer in muzzys when I first started bowhunting about a dozen years ago, but i agree the material has gone downhill and it seems the blades dont hold a good edge as they used to, so I went to looking for a new head and that is when I discovered the Rage 2 blade and have never looked back. As bowhunters we never want to make a poor shot but in my experience with not only me but other friends who bowhunt, when a less than desirable shot it made, the rage still seems to do its job and puts the animal down in a quick order.

This is my first year shooting them I went off all the testimonials and pics of the fine people of this site and the pics they posted to prove the results. I hope I can post results of my own this weekend or next week!!
