Newly stocked rifle is ready - 02/25/23 02:59 PM

Some of ya'll my new Peak 44 ultra-light stock I bought for my Altus 6.5 Creedmoor. Well, Alamo Precision called and it's all bedded and ready to pick up. I'll head over there in a few and pick it up. Then, get out and sight it in this week.

Stand by for pictures this afternoon.....

Alamo did a great job.. I really love this setup. Now weather to use my Swaro Z6 or get a Z5 for even more weight loss

Sweet little rifle, light weight one is sweet to carry around hunting which I carry a rifle a lot more hunting than I shoot it.

My favorite walking around rifle is the Grendel that weighs 7.2lbs Scope, sling, loaded ready to hunt. Heavy enough to hold good, balance well and light enough to carry easily for us mobility challenged guys.

Ditch the Swaro’s and get a lighter more reliable uncapped turret scope like a March.

Might as well use what he has on this one,

What do you all think? Before or after July for it to be listed in the classifieds? What is every ones guess

Sorry Buzz, go for the Z5 on a light weight one. Rifle felt off on my light weight ones top heavy etc. with a Hubble on it.

….. you do have a point.

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 02/26/23 11:50 PM

His Z6 is shockingly light for a Hubble Scope. I wouldn’t go to a 1” Z5 with no erector travel. Buzz will have to dial because we all know you can’t use a reticle for holds because Swaro has garbage reticles.

Just keep the Z6. It’s better than the Z5. You will be right at 8lbs with the Z6 and your new titanium can. It will be perfect. It will be beautiful .

Where are you walking with this rifle?

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 02/27/23 03:18 AM

Man Buzz, that looks useful and 5 3/4 pounds ain’t no target gun. I would stick with that made light to enjoy carrying theme and put a trim little scope on it with the best glass I could swing. Then get out and start piling some stuff up with it. up

I doubt this rifle gets tested the way you would use it. Ill give buzz credit though its a nice stick. I wish he was LH and I’d buy it for my daughter when he gets tired of it

That will be fine for hunting. As much as people equip themselves like American Sniper for hunting, most game is shot well under 300 yards.

Although building an ultralight for walking to a deer stand is pretty funny too.

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 03/03/23 03:14 PM

my go to load in this rifle is RL16 with the 143 ELDX. Don't quote me but without looking I believe 42.5 gr, gets 2750fps. Target loads are H4350 with 140 ELDM and the 135gr Atip

Any suggestions DStroud? Thought about something different. it did shoot the Hammer Hunters good, 124gr i think

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 03/03/23 11:49 PM

Go old school and load up some 155 Lapua Megas for hunting.

Every barrel is going to like a different charge.

Every barrel is going to create a different speed, per charge.

Every barrel is affected by no muzzle device, which brake, or which suppressor.

Every barrel needs a load development completely to its' own. In order to shoot as tight as possible.

Well…how you like the stock? I haven’t seen it for sale so that in itself says something. wink

I’m leaning toward that stock for my 28 Nosler.

Put the two you don’t want up for sale and buy what you want now. You only live once and you don’t live forever.

This was a thought and buy a Swaro Z5. I have the Z6 but its a little large and 6 ounces heavier.

But I could use the scope money on a new project I'm toying with.

You ever finish your rifle?

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 04/06/23 09:19 PM

Nope, but have a ZCO 527 and mount ready to go on the imaginary rifle.

That sir would be a scope worthy of your google time. They also make a 4-20 that would be perfect for your rifle.

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 04/07/23 01:07 AM

Just another 2lb scope Buzz…focus on getting this rifle shot bud wink

Re: Newly stocked rifle is ready - 04/07/23 02:05 AM

I agree with Judd……shoot it. If you aren’t satisfied with performance you won’t need a scope anyway!
